"Tyson Fury set for March return in UK fight with two potential opponents named"

Tyson Fury will be back in the ring in March 2022 with a fight set to take place in the UK against either Dillian Whyte or Joe Joyce, according to Bob Arum

Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring in March and will fight in the UK in his next bout, his co-promoter Bob Arum has stated.

Fury was victorious earlier this month against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas, retaining his WBC belt in a heavyweight classic.

However, plans for a unification bout in 2022 against Anthony Joshua were scuppered after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in September - with a rematch between the pair now set to take place.

Fury will therefore have to return to the ring to face a different opponent but his next fight still looks set to be his long-awaited return to a fight on British shores.

Arum has confirmed that is the plan for Fury and named two potential opponents for a fight date in March 2022.

"If I had to guess, I would say probably March. Dillian Whyte is not the mandatory, and that’s what the WBC hasn’t done," he told Blood Sports TV.

“Dillian Whyte has an obligation to fight Wallin, and we’ll see. But again, in March, I’d like Tyson Fury to fight in the UK, and I would think among the opponents would be Dillian Whyte or maybe this big English guy, Joe Joyce."

Just give Whyte his title shot. Mandatory or not he has earned it and it will shut him up for once.

For the record, Joe Joyce is a Queenberry fighter, which means he’s aligned with Fṛḁռk Wḁṛṛȅռ.

Fṛḁռk Wḁṛṛȅռ also co-promotes Tyson Fury with Bob Arum.

Joe Joyce is rated 3rd in the WBC’s rankings, behind Dillian Whyte, Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr.

In stark contrast, Dillian Whyte is the WBC interim champion that is technically a free-agent, but chooses to work (almost) exclusively with DAZN’s Matchroom Promotions.

So my guess is that Fṛḁռk Wḁṛṛȅռ and Bob Arum might prefer the WBC to mandate Dillian Whyte to face Otto Wallin, allowing Tyson Fury to perform a voluntary defence, which will be an in-house fight, against his fellow stablemate, Joe Joyce.

It'll be Whyte. While there was no official mandatory, Whyte pretended to be a super road warrior and signed to fight Wallin. Then he was made a mandatory while having a scheduled fight. Then he abondons his road superhero mentality, pulls out of that fight. And the situation with Wallin went completely silent, without possible new dates. Probably Fury-Whyte gotta be officially announced a bit later.

So I'm guessing it's Whyte, but they've got Joe as a highly ranked in-house alternative so that Dillian can't demand too much money?

I'd rather see Whyte personally. I could imagine Fwank getting Joe for chief support and then a steep drop off in quality after that, but it would still be worth going to.

Either would be good.

But will Tyson Fury be obliged by the WBC to fight Dillian Whyte next? After pulling out of the fight with Otto Wallin and his KO loss to Alexander Povetkin, I'm not so sure Whyte deserves his shot right away. It would be a mismatch with Fury winning, but the buildup would be fun.

I wouldn't mind seeing Fury fight Joe Joyce, it would be a somewhat risky fight for him.

Where Would you put Whyte in terms of HW resume? He's faced consistently solid opposition. Certainly the best of the current lot not to have had a crack at it. Surely he gets one soon?

keep in mind who the champs and the title challengers of recent years had beaten before getting a title shot - in most cases, hardly anyone

Joe Joyce is a much more interesting fight. Obviously Whyte is the financially lucrative better target but Joe could acctually beat Fury, not saying he would but it certainly wouldn't surprise me. Tyson Fury isn't a real champion however and won't take on someone as dangerous as Joyce so Whyte will get an UNDESERVED shot at the title.

Fury will most likely face Joyce. Personally it will be a pretty easy win considering how slow on the feet Joe Joyce is. It will go the entire 12 rounds, and rounds is what Fury needs after being inactive for so long.

Besides that if Fury can completely shut out Joyce in a decision, if not get a stoppage, it will kind of be like bragging right considering everybody knows Usyk beat Joyce in the amateurs and ever since the Ukrainian went to heavyweight a lot of people wanted to see that rematch between the two of them.

Styles make fights. Joe Joyce is getting better with every fight, he certainly has more power than spaghettiman Deontay Wilder. If anyone can beat Fury then it's Joyce.

Since then, it's just been extra credit; and the extra credit has come in the form of Lucas Browne, Joseph Parker, Dereck Chisora, Oscar Rivas, Mariusz Wach, and Alexander Povetkin. Give this man his god damned title shot. By the time Deontay Wilder had a resume like this, he was already credited with like 9 world title wins.

Hasn’t earned dick man. But it is amazing how certain fans drool all over that man. Why don't you just deposit your money into his account directly if you feel so strongly about him deserving something.

Objectively, Whyte has done more than Joyce and every other contender to fight for the title. Moreover, he with Fury can do a massive buildup. But Joyce can make a more competetive fight against Fury. Whyte is a very vulnerable guy, he wobbles around every fight and sometimes gets knocked out cold. Fury will maul and destroy Whyte. Joyce is a durable and iron-chinned juggernaut, big, strong and relentless, he can take punishment and continue to come forward. He has more chances to push Fury to the limit.

doesnt want that slow joe smoke. just throwing his name in there as a negotiation tacktic to fight whyte.

Tyson Fury has sparred Joe Joyce many times, which introduces an interesting dynamic, because they’re very familiar with each others strengths and weaknesses.

Tyson Fury will likely try to outbox Joyce rather employing the same tactics he used against Wilder.

I find it rather interesting that (after sparring Tyson seven months before ‘The Gypsy King’ made his comeback against Seferi) Joe Joyce felt that Fury would beat Anthony Joshua.

And ‘Big’ Joe Joyce has sparred AJ & Fury on numerous occasions.

This is important, because Joe said he had trouble with the weakest iteration of Fury, and that Tyson would be a nightmare if he was 100% fit.

Tyson Fury is one of the very few heavyweights that has an equally durable chin and high work-rate to Joyce.

This has a distance fight written all over it.

But in a way, you’re right. Styles makes fights and it’s entirely feasible that Joyce would provide a sterner challenge to Fury than Whyte does.

Whyte for me , he wait so long

No doubt about it if its gonna happen it will be Whyte , Fury will box his head off possibly stop him ,, Joyce i'm not so sure its more of a close fight

I prefer whyte for Fury next and after all the waiting around he probably deserves his shot .
Also think its got a bit more entertainment value as the lead up will be spiky and the fight could be a bit of war whereas JJ is so polite and well behaved and that would surely go 12 for a close decision without either boxer having a clear lead .

I'd prefer Joyce, he's undefeated.

Whyte has earned a shot but Joyce has also.
Joyce"s last 6 fights were Stiverne, Ustinov, Jennings, Wallisch, Dubois and Takam

Whytes last 6 were Parker, Chisora, Rivas, Wach and splitting wins with Povetkin.

Both are very deserving. 2 of the better resumes of the heavyweight contenders

Bob Arum now claims Tyson Fury's next bout will be scheduled for mid-April to avoid conflicting TV scheduling dates in the US due to "March Madness".
