15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

The former World Light Heavyweight Champion Loughran would use his quick and accurate left jabs to out-box "Two Ton" Tony and avoiding Galento's big left hooks with great defense to counter him on the outside to take a decision like Loughran did to Jim Braddock and Max Baer. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Logic would tell you Loughran but Galento had the ability to get opponents so mad at him they would fight his kind of fight. But Loughran was pretty tough and fast--- he was a sparring partner for Jack Dempsey in preparation for Gene Tunney, etc.

I think it would go the entire 15 rounds unless "The New Jersey Nightstick" fouled himself out of the contest which he was prone to do from time to time. Galento did fight a couple of men who were the size of Loughran like Cuban Bobby Brown who went the distance with Maxie Rosenbloom and Tiger Jack Payne, and beat the poor man horribly--- but I don't think he could do much with Loughran.

Loughran was only stopped three times in 126 matches: Jack Sharkey, Steve Hamas, and in his first year as a pro due to broken ribs. With Hamas, Loughran would fight him three more times and those fights went the distance.

Much as I like the bartender from New Jersey, who probably would have been better suited to the bare knuckle era, I can't see him doing much with the fast-footed and quick-witted Loughran.

Loughran would win a an easy decision; probably a shutout. Galento was not good and Loughran was great. Loughran would box circles around him.
