Plant was in survival mode, Canelo broke Plant's body! Benavidez, Bivol or Beterbiev, next please!

Canelo punished Plant's Philly Shell defence with heavy hooks to the midsection, straight right overhands over Plant's head and kidney's left side punches.

Pretty much , Canelo punished Plant.

Annoying biased-childish commentary from those commentators. :box:

Plant looked good in a series of early rounds and in the 9th. He wasn't surviving, he was boxing as much as he could and with some success. Canelo is just on the other level, he kept himself cool, he was gradually taking over and he did it.

Well Canelo threw some heavy shots combos. Plant, indeed was jabbing well and he was defending well but also BJS did.

What I'm trying to say is that Canelo chopped down Plant's body very well. People only like to see the head shots.

I thought the philly shell was very effective. Plants right arm covers body and chin from canelos deadly left hooks. The shoulder and very turned stance means hooking rights can only land back of head. basucaly means canelo has to throw rights to the body, strait shots, and short cuffing rights. add in quite a lot of upper body movment, plant is a hard guy to hit clean.

for the first 10 rounds canelo hardly landed a real sharp nice headshot. He was winning, and won, but yea for that first 10 canelo didnt realy land a great shot. was just wearing him a bit waiting for that one dinger to get through. and it did in the 11h.

I was very impressed with how Canelo softned Plant's body. It was a great effort to apply that pressure from Canelo. After a battering like that Plant is gonna feel the pain in his body for a while.

Eddy Reynoso is a pretty "wicked" trainer. :TU:

I think Plant gave his best effort but this was just too much of a step up in class for him.

Wouldn't mind Plant vs Anthony Dirrell on Canelo's undercard next May

I guess that Canelo would like to stay at 168 for a while. 175 is a little too much for a stocky-short guy like him.

Charlo, Benavidez, GGG III and Munguia @ 168 would be good fights for Canelo. But, hey, if Canelo would like to fight Beterbiev and Bivol @ 175 then that's pretty awesome.

I can't see Golovkin 3 being a good fight for Canelo.

GGG is slipping and not very active these days.

He would probably be 40 years old by the time he fights Alvarez again.

Canelo would be just too much for him.

Nobody from 160 or at 168 is beating Canelo; he looks just about unbeatable in that range right now.

I can only see the big boy LHWs giving him trouble, but it wouldn't surprise me if Canelo beat those guys too.

Well indeed G is too old atm. Murata, Eubank Jr and Munguia are good fights for GGG.

I guess Canelo would like to fight on SHO vs Charlo and Benavidez then move up.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with Plant at all, but I wasn't expecting anything from this fight. Plant is a belt-holder, not an elite fighter. He won maybe 2 rounds, and the rounds he might've won were still close. I don't think anyone would bat an eye giving Canelo every round. He had no tactics for Canelo's bodyshots and just took them trying to guard his chin. As he got broken down, Canelo was able to finish him because his body was mashed-potatoes by the end. Anyways, 168 is a bit of a wasteland.

Only fight that I think is significant is either Ramirez or Bivol. In the meantime, if Munguia dominates Rosado, I can see them making him move up to fight Canelo at 168.

I was very impressed with Canelo's body working-power shots. A thing of beauty! Very, very few boxers are able to work the body like Canelo does. Canelo's positioning when he's throwing that left hook to the midsection is pure art. Plant was a hard target to hit.

Canelo's body attack is super savage and he uses lots of angles and punches.

Benavidez, Beterbiev and Bivol are all better fights than Callum, BJS and Plant.
