Razor Ruddock comes to mind. Unfortunately when he found out he could punch he became largely a headhunter and that cost him in the long run.

Canelo probably makes the list.

I think that Povetkin qualifies.
Any boxer turning pro with an excellent trainer/team almost inevitably improves power and the ability to deliver it. It is not a process of improving the power that you have but maximizing the potential of that power.
IMO, Tyson Fury has learned how to deliver his power more efficiently over the years.

This is a great call.
Ruddock was a decent boxer with pretty good skills, but post Michael Dokes in 1990, morphed into a one punch seeking slugger.
I alway think he was unlucky not to get his scheduled fight with Tyson in late '89.
At that time, he would certainly would have boxed more, rather than trade single shots with Tyson, like he did during their 1991 fights.
He proved he was a tough cookie; with better tactics, he could have won.

Sergio Martinez = 11 KO's during the first 31 bouts, but 19 of his most recent 25 victories have been stoppages.
Johnny Nelson = 17 KO's during the first 38 bouts, but 12 of his final 21 victories were stoppages. The Brits final 15 bouts were all world title fights.
It’s not just about the numbers either, because early in their careers, these guys were struggling to KO journeymen, but yet they subsequently managed to stop world-rated opposition.

Sergio got on that Spanish PED train and road it all the way to knockoutsville. Probably Sharing doctors with Nadal, the Barcelona football team and most of the top cyclists

At the time the Barcelona football team players were each covering about a mile per game more than their opposite numbers. Thats, EACH. Yeah, like they had that much better a ‘strength and conditioning regime’ than everyone else

Former WBA light fly champ Myung-Woo Yuh won his first 13 bouts by points, then scored 14 KO´s in his last 25 victories which is pretty good for a light fly. Specially considering 10 of those stoppages were in world title bouts.

Don't think PEDs influence punch power, if they did we'd be getting knockouts every fight lol

I can’t help but find a dude in his lateish 20s suddenly having his KO % rocket and not be a tad suspicious, as much as anything else it’s coz he was based in Spain and Spain was filthy with organised PED use at that time. Albeit of course there are other reasons that could bring it about.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice fkin call bro. Oh shyt yeah
There was a period of about 90 seconds in his fight against Son, where he’s bobbing and weaving and backpedaling slightly and throwing pinpoint hard hooks and uppercuts on the counter, all in rhythm with the movement forced on him by Son (maybe Suh... something with an S, Korean kid). Eventually he flattened him with bodyshots IIRC. I was actually shouting out loud watching that.

david ava, never had more than 3 straight stoppages (vs crap opposition) in his career, now on a run of 5 straight vs the best opposition he's beaten

Was going to mention him, turned into a bit of a KO machine lately.
