Who are the boxers you followed for no particular reason?

I always wanted Marco Antonio Rubio to do well, never watched him but just remember him being laid out by jantuah and then always rooted for him

Nick Blackwell.

Probably because he was technically limited but hard as nails.

Was buzzing for him when he stopped Ryder for the British middleweight title, after falling short twice previously.

And obviously gutted how things turned out for him in the Eubank fight.

Martin Jolley. He was always on Screensport with his ginger buffoon and tash.

Ever since I saw him on prizefighter, I always kept an eye on John Wayne Hibberts career. Hard lad him.

Donato Paduano (still don't understand why)

Prince Patel.

On the same show, Muhammad Ali had a real struggle against Oscar "Ringo" Bonavena before pulling out some big shots to stop Bonavena in the 15th and last round. Ali looked horribly rusty in the second fight of his comeback after three years out and clearly wasn't ready for Joe Frazier but he faced him three months later and suffered his first career defeat.

Dont think he ever stopped anyone and he was the size of a child but remember always tuning into his fights for 2 or 3 years. Dont even remember why I followed him as much as I did.

Rocky Dean a few years ago, watched one of his early fights , then just followed his career from there.

A boxer from Guyana called Barrington Cambridge - because I loved his name! I only knew about him when reading The Ring magazine's 'ring reports from around the world' at the back of the magazine in the 1980's. I never saw him box or knew what he looked like but would read up on his fights every time I got my copy of The Ring and imagine him as a gentleman scholar lacing up the gloves and giving someone an educated biffing.

I’d imagine Cambridge being the University you attended after your stint at Eton probably had something to do with your fondness for his name?

I remember Napa being a very flashy hands down type fighter who won his fight easily. I’m pretty sure Hartlepool’s Michael Hunter was on the same program and he won his final too.

Yes, that sounds like it. Napa is the only one I remember. He obviously made an impression on me.
