Denny v River Wilson bent
Cracking fight for English title on channel 5 last Saturday but an awful end. Bent was badly cut from a punch but it was deemed a head clash in the 7th round. Fight went to the cards. One judge for denny. One card a disgrace by shaun messer ( didnt give denny a round) and the other a draw. Denny left distraught in the ring and in the interview afterwards.
Whats people thoughts on what happened

Was saying in other thread it was awful end to great fight.
Poor from IJL to give the head clash. We didn't get that many replays but I'm fairly confident a head clash did not cause that cut. If I recall there was a cut above the eye and smaller below.
As for the cards, well Denny definitely won several rounds. Absurd to give him none on one card.
The rematch is the correct thing to do and should happen. I felt for Denny in interview after seemed gutted. Wilson Bent showed potential at times too I thought. Good scrap as per usual in Channel 5.

Only issue with the rematch is how long it cud take the cut to heal. It did look a bad one Hopefully they get it on in the new year.

True, I believe the next Hennessy card is December 10th. But the first few months of 2022 would make sense.

Not wanting to comment because of obvious bias but in the rule book if a cut is caused by a punch (and its fairly obvious one of Bents three cuts were caused by a punch) if it is worsened by use of the head to the point where it cannot carry on then it goes to the score cards.I think this is where that come from and Woodhall on the commentary pointed that out but the other commentators not knowing the rule book just assumed what ever caused the original injury be in head or punch is where you go when going to the scorecards.

I had it dead even at that stage including scoring the incomplete round.I thought John Latham got it right. I thought it was a bit wide but scrappy low scoring fights can be wildly inconsistant in scoring. Its just perception sometimes,On tv it looked like shaks was very early but at ringside you could see reeces legs were very unsteady walking back to his corner so im in the minority thinking that stoppage was well timed.
