Why is some of the fights results going back to the 60s and 70s are found but bouts in the 80s are not?
Some older fights have cometary , details etc,
Many of the AM fights in New England are not noted

Can you make each of the events a dropdown on the date page instead of having to click to a new page for each event? Or add an icon (maybe a trophy) that signifies that the event contains a championship fight.
Yes... this is an absolute disaster! How can anyone think, that this new format, where we have to seperately click on every event, is an improvement over the old methode... where we could see every fight on a given date in a matter of seconds? Please change it back to the old format. PLEASE!

Already complained on another thread but adding here for visibility. If nothing else, for fvck sake sort out the appallingly non-inclusive use of purely red-green colouring for wins & losses, without any supporting text for the many people who struggle to distinguish. Unbelievable decision, how on earth did that pass QA?

You can still get a very similar view on the "schedule" page, although I agree the change made to the "date" page is unambiguously a step backwards and I don't know why it was done.

I mean…lawyers are notoriously risk averse (I am one)….but this is really kinda silly.

Wikipedia would be in huge trouble if this were really an issue.
Many other databases on the Net have removed some (or every) birthdates or have placed the data only in the pro version of their site (IMDb for example). I confirm that in France collecting personal data is very sensitive and can lead to trouble if done without explicit consent of the concerned people, especially if the data are supposed to be published. And for databases like here, collecting everyone's agreement would be almost impossible.

The recent changes operated on boxrec makes me regret more useful news about the boxers (ratings for example, one of the most interesting data provided in here and exclusively here).
If just posting someone’s birthdate, which is findable in other places was such a risk….then how would Wikipedia have literally Hundreds of thousands of potentially liable pages out there.

This is definitely a case where people are being too cautious.

It’s not like boxrec is a financial data collector that is getting these birthdates through access to bank accounts or credit card services and then posting them.

To me this is similar to in America where people think everything involving medical information is a HIPAA violation (including some other lawyers I know) when really it is a very limited set of circumstances where it’s really a violation.

I just came here to request the same thing. This happened a few years back too when they first moved the bout details from the main page into a separate bout page - took quite a while for it to come back too. Please add this back.
Yes I remembered that too. I think I might have even posted a request back then as well before they put it back. For the meantime I've literally got to go manually count up their full history of KOs to figure out their complete record at the time of the fight. :brick:

Maybe this is too pedantic, but the "last 6 bouts" bar went from visually powerful to a piddling little braille-like series of dots

The solid bar really worked better as a graphic. Having the dots be on different levels i guess is so that red/green colorblind can tell the difference, but it's gotten smaller and harder to "read" overall.

Didn't it used to have W L or D inside it anyway? Then you don't need to weird looking level-shift. It looked better before, and was more appropriate for a sport where men punch each other in the face. The current graphic looks appropriate for horseshoes or pickel-ball maybe.

I'm glad to see several other people have complained about the new update. It's clearly worse than before, but given the lack of comments from the editors I have no confidence that anything positive will come from our complaints. Hopefully someone can create another boxing record site that is actually user-friendly soon

I mentioned it in the ratings thread, but this seems to be the more appropriate place. Please make the ratings visual again. This includes the "after fight" ratings that used to be on the "bout page." Thanks

Is there a way to put the settings back to the original when viewing a fighters profile any longer? Instead of clicking each individual tab, still having the old ability to simply scroll down the page and view the fighter’s career as simply as it previous was? My apologies if this has been asked countless times. Thanks

I have a feeling the the reasoning behind this is for more clicks to more pages, which equals more display ads and therefore revenue. A necessary evil but it keeps the site going.

Someone mentioned that you get the "all events/fights" one page layout within the schedule which is true. But the date specific function was much easier to use. I would prefer if they had to have 1 where you have to click through an even to see the fights it be via the Schedule section, and the date selection page works as it used to with every event and all bouts listed for the given date. I assume that the date page is or was more popular though.
Nihlus wrote: 24 Jul 2022, 06:30 Please bring back the averages of fan scoring for each round. It was an incredible tool for people to understand how close a round was in the eyes of hundreds or even thousands of fans. Now the new update has every fan score rounded up and there's no substitute for it. No other websites have the sample size of fan scoring that BoxRec does.
While we have nowhere near the userbase BoxRec does, we provide some interesting post-fight scoring analysis, with our system requiring users to input some additional metrics and data per round. You might find it of interest :TU:

Dear Boxrec editors !
In this new version of Boxrec website, it is not showing the fighters' points at their rankings! Is it going to be fixed? Or it was intentionally removed, if so why?

Anyone else noticed, that some fighter's names miss last letter on their opponent's page?
I noticed it with two fighters.
Dariusz Michalczewski and Sergiy Derevyanchenko.

They both have last letter missing in their surnames while You look at the page of their opponents, or the page of an event.
It's Michalczewsk and Derevyanchenk.

Yes, I noticed that too, it is the case for Rigondeaux becoming Rigondeau. Sometimes it is even for first name and last name (Kudratillo Abdukakhorov becomes Kudratill Abdukakhor). When there are two names one can be omitted too, and sometimes it is problematic : "Gary Russell" will appear for Gary Antuanne Russell and for Gary Antonio Russell.

It's funny how they shortened the names of organisations (aka fixed it) from World Boxing Organisation to WBO for example. But for some reason EBU European title is now labeled as European boxing union European title. The short version is far better and easier for the eyes. And even worse is the EBU EU title which is now European boxing union European union title.

I've also noticed that if some fighters have long names, the last letter in their names are being cut off when looking at fighting record. Or in some cases the last names are being completely cut off. Can we fix these?

I imagine it might be as simple as setting those name fields to wrap, so if a name is too long, rather than getting cut off, it just wraps to a second line. Easy for me to say...I don't know html or web design from my elbows. But if they can pull that off I would think it'd be an easy adjustment.

I saw a fighter listed as "Miguel Angel". You knew there was a last name in there somewhere, it just isn't displaying properly.

Another small adjustment needed...when entering a date on the date page
https://boxrec.com/en/date
the calendar ends up covering up the submit button. So you have to click outside of it to get rid of the calendar, then click submit. Enter doesn't work and you would have to tab 3 times to get to the submit button. Little things that cause way more clicks and key strokes than necessary.

BoxRec definitely needs to return to the old format. We went from the future to the stone-age in a matter of one “upgrade.” Some of the issues/frustrations I’ve been experiencing include:
-I can’t view events happening in individual states in the USA on the event page anymore. It’s just one big ass list with about 7,000 pages I have to scroll through.
-These drop down boxes for bouts are are just an unnecessary step.
-Ads shield half the page on a fighters record and there’s no way to close them out or uncover the opponent list.
-Only world title fights are specified under each bout. I’m not seeing any country/region/state/province/area/town/village/, whatever the hell else.
-I’m sick of having to click on pictures of boats, bridges, and freaking busses every two pages.

Stick to the old rule of thumb to not fix something that’s not broken. We were in a good spot where we were before this awful update.

Hint...in the "titles" section, add an option where you can see in a single timeline the title results of all 4 organizations (WBO, WBC, IFB, WBA, WBA superworld, WBC Diamond). Also the results prior to the creation of the WBC (1963, supported by the NYSAC) and WBA (In 1962, before NBA)
