Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hello John,
I just read all nine pages of this chaotic thread. I do not believe the thread is helping the site in its current form because
a) individual ideas are not tracked.
b) there appears to be no-one with authority responding to the individual ideas.
c) irrelevant posts are made.
Compare this to the forum discussing new features for the game Settlers of Catan at the colonist site.
https://colonist.featureupvote.com/?ord ... =#controls
There you have ideas being discussed and individual ideas can be upvoted. If you're unable to recreate such a format, then I think it would be much better to have a dedicated forum for suggestions, where individual threads can be made per idea, and discussed therein. A thread could be even closed, if a person in authority makes a decision.
This is my general post about suggestions in the next post I make some specific suggestions.
cheers

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hi John,
here are some specific suggestions for the site.
1) Seeing the progression of the fighter's rating used to be possible when looking at their record. There was a pre-bout rating and a post-bout rating. This feature should be made available again, preferably by some sort of setting control.
2) The boxing ranks algorithm should be properly documented. The "read here first" link to the ratings algorithm contains probably about 10% of the information about the algorithm.
3) The p4p lists and the weight class lists should contain the rating numbers.
4) Initially, when the p4p list is displayed the weight class is listed. It would be nice if that was an active link to the respective ratings for that weight class. For example, where is says Tyson Fury, five star, heavy, that the "heavy" would be a hyperlink.
cheers

Is there anyway the forum can be updated so you can click a 'like' 'dislike' or 'agree' button on posts other people have made?

Hi - what's the plan/timeline for adding in muay thai/kickboxing/MMA records and star ratings for fighters? I see that the options are available in the dropdown menus on the schedule and results pages, would love to be able to sort by 5 star rated bouts for those sports as well.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Yes, BoxRec is ready to show ratings for them, but the numbers of bouts recorded in BoxRec with the exceptions of box-pro and box-am are not large enough until now - I guess 10000 at least would be necessary to make sense ...poppalarge wrote: ↑20 Feb 2023, 03:44 Hi - what's the plan/timeline for adding in muay thai/kickboxing/MMA records and star ratings for fighters? Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Is there a legit ongoing effort to add the backlog of results and future bouts, or is it not really much of a priority?computerrank wrote: ↑20 Feb 2023, 13:14Yes, BoxRec is ready to show ratings for them, but the numbers of bouts recorded in BoxRec with the exceptions of box-pro and box-am are not large enough until now - I guess 10000 at least would be necessary to make sense ...poppalarge wrote: ↑20 Feb 2023, 03:44 Hi - what's the plan/timeline for adding in muay thai/kickboxing/MMA records and star ratings for fighters? Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Just a suggestion but if you put somebody on your ignore list they should not be able to see anything that you write. Just my opinion. As if your account has completely disappeared from their perspective.

i mean, if someone is one your ignore list, why does it matter? surely you would've stopped reading and responding to their posts by that time?HomicideHenry wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 23:10 Just a suggestion but if you put somebody on your ignore list they should not be able to see anything that you write. Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
It is simply not sufficient because it does not stop the harassment or the trolling or the bullying because people will continue to look up your old posts and repost them or other people you don't have blocked will join in on the charade and quote whatever you say and then the people you have blocked just continue for days and days.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 23:12i mean, if someone is one your ignore list, why does it matter? surely you would've stopped reading and responding to their posts by that time?HomicideHenry wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 23:10 Just a suggestion but if you put somebody on your ignore list they should not be able to see anything that you write. Therefore in my opinion we should be given the option to click on whoever we don't want seeing our posts at all. Or that whoever we block simply would not be allowed to see any of our posts as if our account is completely gone.

You don't need anybody's help to ignore someone. Or at least you shouldn't.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 23:15It is simply not sufficient because it does not stop the harassment or the trolling or the bullying because people will continue to look up your old posts and repost them or other people you don't have blocked will join in on the charade and quote whatever you say and then the people you have blocked just continue for days and days.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 23:12i mean, if someone is one your ignore list, why does it matter? surely you would've stopped reading and responding to their posts by that time?HomicideHenry wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 23:10 Just a suggestion but if you put somebody on your ignore list they should not be able to see anything that you write. If somebody's response pisses you off, just stop talking to 'em. Pretty simple solution.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Limit characters in posts. We have several novel writers. While merely skip those posts, they are truly annoying. Thank you.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
i would like to see what each fighter uses more of, either jabs hooks crosses, and the fatigue factors

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Might there be a way to sort all fights by star rating? I know, for example, we can pull up the 5* rated bouts from the current month, but is there or could there be a way to pull up all 5* rated bouts in the database?

Hi. Can you correct the result for the fight on 24/2/2023 in Thailand at Sitpholek Gym. My name is Brady Cummins and I lost by KO in the 2nd round. You have the result as a KO win to me. Your help correcting this is much appreciated
Thanks

The results page should go back 6 months, rather than just back to the start of the month.
