Murat Gassiev vs Andriy Rudenko - 25 December 2021 in Sochi, Russia (OFF)

The bout is announced by Gassiev's promotion.
What do you think?
Definitely a step up. Not a question, who wins, but can Gassiev knock him out? Rudenko is quite tough, never KOed in 5 losses to Povetkin, Zhang, Kabayel, Lucas Browne and Hughie Fury. He's 38 now.

i do think gassiev has a good chance to stop him, aside from rudenko having mileage, gass also has some real nice body shots and worst ive seen rudenko hurt was to the body.

Yet I'm not suggesting, that it won't suck with Gassiev. It's a step up for both Gassiev at HW and Babic, but for both it still won't be competetive. Just previous opponents were even more mismatched, to outrageous extent.
P.S. These words of wisdom compiled my post # 10 000.

His last cruiserweight fight was 3 years 4 months ago. He's taking his foray into heavyweight too damned slowly.

Rudenko should have at least been his 1st HW fight. But it's already the 3rd one. Usyk won Joshua in his 3rd.

Summed up nicely. The only question is can Gassiev be the first man to stop Rudenko?
If he did that would open a new question: Could he have stopped the Rudenko of a few years ago?
I can think of a number of better opponents for Gassiev without getting too ahead of ourselves, such as Sergei Kuzmin or Andrei Fedesov (I think he's currently in the US though) but Rudenko is a respectable opponent for his third outing at heavyweight ... at least that is if you overlook how long it's been since Gassiev last fought at cruiserweight. His progress has been painfully slow and the clock is ticking.

Gassiev's engaging in another mismatch, but at least Rudenko will give him some rounds.
Gassiev has only engaged in two mismatches within the last 3½ years. And this will be his third consecutive horrendous outing at heavyweight.

I think, Gassiev wouldn't KO Rudenko of the Povetkin bout. Today he probably won't put him unconscious either, but he can secure a TKO or win with opoonent's RTD. I see Rudenko counteracting for a couple of rounds, maybe winning one, but then going to survival and getting beat up, maybe still surviving until the bell. It doesn't promise to be exciting anyway.

Well he's been able to soak up all punishment so far to head and body. Time has a way of wearing down the toughest of rocks though and not just in the literal geological sense.

Rudenko will instead test countryman Vladyslav Sirenko on Dec 18 on the same card with Denys Berinchyk vs Isa Chaniev.

So, Rudenko fought Sirenko instead, on the recent weekend, where he was waved in the 6th round for the excessive holding. He was repeatedly warned, taken away a point, but he continued to grab Sirenko. Probably he was simply avoiding the action, which weren't beneficial for him. Sirenko was in total control, he was outboxing Rudenko clearly, landing some decent uppercuts. After another good uppercut in the 6th Rudenko started to hold more and got waved, although he wasn't wobbled or anything like that.
