Press Release

To mark its ten years of existence, Eye of the Tiger Management is going to stage a series of three anniversary events on January 22, February 19 and March 26, 2022.

These events, which will take place in the intimacy and energized atmosphere guaranteed by the Cabaret of the Montreal Casino will feature the organization's headliners including Arslanbek Makhmudov, Christian Mbilli, Erik Bazinyan, Yves Ulysse Jr., Simon Kean as well as Steven Butler.

"The idea behind the development of this anniversary series was to take a moment to celebrate with our supporters and partners the past decade that has allowed us to live through such memorable events. We are certainly very proud of the organization's achievements so far and especially of the accomplishments of the boxers and their teams but are truly grateful for the support we have received from boxing fans since our very beginnings and our longtime partners, directly contributing to the development of boxing in Quebec," said the president of EOTTM, Camille Estephan.

For the Montreal organization, it was inevitable to hold these festivities at the Cabaret of the Montreal Casino.

"The Casino has become over the years an emblematic place for Quebec boxing since the greatest boxers in the history of the province have fought and developed under its spotlight and some of the most memorable wars have taken place there", adds head director, Antonin Décarie.

It will be powerful slugger Arslanbek Makhmudov (13-0, 13 KOs) who will kick off the celebrations, headlining the first event of the series, on January 22, as he crosses swords with the experienced Pole Mariusz Wach (36-7-0, 19 KOs).

Nicknamed the “Viking,” the 6 ′ 8 ″ and over 270 lb giant has stood up to some of the biggest names in the division such as Wladimir Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin, Jarrell Miller, Dillian Whyte and Hughie Fury. Recognized for his resistance, he should meet the objectives of Makhmudov's team, who hope that their protégé will have a hard time for several rounds.

EOTTM will unveil in the coming days the details of the fight cards for the galas of January 22, February 19 and March 26 at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal as well as the date on which tickets go on sale on the Ticketmaster network. Packages to attend the three events will also be offered for the holiday season. For more information, visit www.eottm.com.

Sh!tmatchmaking continues. Mak will pound Wach in a monotonous one-sided fashion, possibly to the technical KO.

I don't care about shitmatchmaking in this case. I'm just glad he's in the ring. He's fun to watch.

Wach is too much in the same caliber as Teper, Carman, and Rice. The boxrec ratings think it's an evenly-matched fight, but... naw.

my bigger issue here is like.........why wait 4 months for his next fight when he just ko'd teper in a few minutes without taking any damage. with big mak winning so easily and quickly, and being 32 without much pro exxpeirence, he should be moved with a fight ever 2 months at least

EOTTM - Press Release

Due to an increase in Covid 19 cases in the province and the adjustment of public health measures by the Legault administration (and the closing of the Casino de Montréal, until further notice), Eye of the Tiger is forced to postpone its first event of the anniversary series, featuring Makhmudov vs Wach, which should have taken place Saturday, January 22 will finally be held on February 19, 2022.

The date of Thursday, March 3 will also be added to the calendar of the Montreal Casino Cabaret which will present the 3 EOTTM anniversary galas on February 19, March 3, and March 26.

The February 19 main event will feature Arslanbek Makhmudov (13-0-0, 13 KOs), who will not only defend his NABF title, but also attempt to nab the heavyweight NABA belt, against the Polish giant Mariusz Wach (36-7-0, 19 KOs). Although confronting a bigger, more imposing boxer will be a career first for Makhmudov, “The Lion” is confident that he is more than ready to overcome this challenge. “My team and I must adapt to Wach’s size, but we are more than ready for this fight and looking forward to continuing our journey”, proclaims Makhmudov, currently 10th in the WBC world ranking.

Simon Kean (20-1, 19 KOs) will try to prolong his winning streak when he confronts Shawndell Terell Winters (13-6-0, 12 KOs). Among his noteworthy fights, the American heavyweight has confronted several powerhouses of his division: Joseph Parker, Alen Babic, Cassius Chaney and Nikodem Jezewski, to name a few, as well as great Canadian hopeful Oleksandr Teslenko, whom he vanquished in a 5th round KO.

“Winters is a powerful, seasoned boxer with a good knockout ratio who has confronted worthy opponents. Simon will test his mettle in this fight; he will have to focus from beginning to end as Winters is the type of boxer who will not hesitate to punish his adversary for every mistake, no matter how small,” explains Vincent Auclair, Kean’s trainer.

Amongst the future hopefuls we will see in action at the February 19 event are Thomas Chabot (5-0, 5 K.-O.), Luis Santana (4-0-0, 2 KOs), Alexandre Gaumont (2-0, 1 K.-O.), Avery Martin-Duval (5-0-1, 3 KOs) and Leila Beaudoin (3-0, 1 K.-O.).

In the following days, Ticketmaster will contact all ticketholders who have made an online purchase, and confirm that the January 22 tickets will be honoured on February 19, 2022. Should they wish, ticketholders can be reimbursed if the new dates are not convenient. Eye of the Tiger will soon reveal the complete program of the second event of its 10th Anniversary Series for March 3. For more information, please visit www.eottm.com.

Undercard Press Release

On February 19, Eye of the Tiger kicks off 2022 with a bang at the Cabaret du Casino de Montreal, where fans will witness the team’s most promising hopefuls in action at the first event of a series highlighting the organization’s ten-year anniversary.

Alexandre Gaumont, Thomas Chabot, Luis Santana, Avery Martin-Duval and Leila Beaudoin will go to war on the undercard of the two main-event headliners. In the first, Arslanbek Makhmudov will battle Mariusz Wach for the NABF and NABA heavyweight titles, while Simon Kean will face off against Shawndell Winters in the second.

In his third pro fight, Buckingham slugger Alexandre Gaumont (2-0, 1 KOs) will have a significant hurdle to overcome when he confronts tough veteran Edgar Romero Mora (11-12-3, 8 KOs). The fight will allow the Gatineau native to not only gain experience, but also display his skill and competence.

“Gaumont’s fight will mark the end of an era for him, and a transition into a new phase of training and development. He’ll be facing a seasoned opponent, as will all the boxers on the undercard. These progress fights will allow them to gain the necessary experience to step up to the next level of their career, show fans the extent of their talent and provide superlative entertainment”, explains Marc Ramsay, development director and head trainer at EOTTM.

Thomas Chabot (5-0, 5 KO) will confront Maximino Toala (15-10-1, 6 KOs) in a six-round super featherweight duel. This will not be the Mexican boxer’s first visit to Canada, who was the first to defeat Canadian pugilist Mohammed Abedeen, and proved a worthy opponent to Josh O’Reilly, Golden Garcia, and Helmand Meran Alekozai. He has also confronted world lightweight champion Devin Haney.

Chabot’s team chose his opponent very carefully, as Toala is tough and unyielding and is know to go the distance. Indeed, the Thetford boxer will have to be attentive and vigilant for the length of the fight. “Toala has endurance, aggression and brute strength, as he usually fights in a heavier weight category. We chose him so that Thomas would have the opportunity to work his defence. In the past, Thomas would fight like a steamroller, ending the fight by KO. This time around, we want his fans to seem him get the same result in a different way,” explained his trainer, Vincent Auclair.

Luis Santana (4-0-0, 2 KOs) will cross swords with Brandon Garcia Orozco (4-1-0, 3 KO), a physically imposing adversary with excellent ring displacement. The EOTTM recruit will have to use his wits to control the distance and master ring generalship if he is to overcome his opponent.

In the curtain raiser, Avery Martin-Duval (5-0-1, 3 KO) will fight his first professional 6-round bout against Francisco Javier Lucero (10-3-4, 7 KO).

It'll be quite surprising, if Wach gets iced. I expect TKO.

I can't help but think Wach will look for a place to fall once he tastes Mak's power.
