From what we've seen up to the date from Fury, he definitely would be a tough challenge for Holmes. Larry could box and fight, Fury is capable of these things too. Holmes carried more power, but Fury seems to roughhouse more effectively. It's tough to predict, if Fury needed the least thing. To match him against such a good jabber, it would be great to see him first against Usyk, for instance.

Ouch. Larry Holmes is one of the very few people on my list who could have beaten Fury. I reckon the best performance Holmes ever had as champion was against Gerry Cooney, and going into the 12th round Cooney would've been ahead had it not been for point deductions.

Fury is Cooney but with far better skills and much bigger and more athletic. Holmes would have to really get mean and viscous, which he was capable of doing, to force the match into a dog fight. Holmes was more accurate with his jab, but is that going to matter if Fury is either leaning away from shots (eight feet away) or is leaning all that weight on Holmes?

Very very competitive fight that can go either way and a bit difficult to predict. I'm thinking a split decision either way.

Have to admit I never thought of this one before.
12 rounds? Would we really need 12 rounds to settle this? You would think 4 rounds would be enough. It might surprise some people, but I am going with Fury. His superior putting should be enough to overcome Holmes' tremendous tee shots.

Far better skills? Much bigger (Fury 6'9", Cooney 6'6") More athletic? Hmmm...
Cooney certainly had the bigger punch.

Both very skilled. Fury seems to have the broader skill-set, but what Cooney could do, he did very well.
