A Christmas Brain Teaser

Can any one name these two men who boxed each other in a legitimate 15 round contest.

One of them fought for the World Light-Heavyweight title.
The other one fought for the World Flyweight title.

Who are they, when did they meet and who beat who?

Without checking anything - could Len Harvey be one of them?

Harvey seems like a good guess, but I don't think it's right. I thought of Carpentier, who fought Charles LeDoux, but that isn't right either.
great question prewar! :TU:

Can't be Harvey.

Presumably both men never won either title they fought for so that makes it a bit more harder to figure out. I love trivia like this though because it flies in the face of modern thinking that size is too much of a disparity to overcome.

Couldn't be because Billy Wells never fought for the light heavyweight version of anything. He was always a heavyweight.

Hi Miles
In Denmark we had a fight that nearly matched Harvey v Jarvis.
As young amateurs Spend Abazi and Mikkel Kessler fought each other (Kessler won).
Years later Abazi fought for championships as a bantamweight, Kessler as super-middle and light-heavyweight.

Merry Christmas and Happy new year.

That's a really interesting comparison Søren.

The Carpentier v Ledoux call was also an excellent one by Ambling Alp.

Have a great day. Miles.

I didn't realize Kessler fought for a light heavyweight title.

Kessler fought Allan Green for someting called "the vacant WBC Silver light-heavyweight title".
(For whatever that title is worth.)
