De La Hoya had the height, reach and speed but Mugabi was a bull.
Could DLH box him for the duration of the fight without getting hit? And if he couldn't,could he take a punch from Mugabi? I don't know. If DLH fought the perfect fight he could win a decision. But if he slips up or tries to trade I think Mugabi by ko

I think Oscar takes a UD here. Taking a punch was always one of his greater strengths, and other than punching power he's a better fighter than Mugabi. Mugabi would be a good bit stronger than him though.

Agree with De La Hoya UD, IMO it would be something like 8-4. Mugabi was a big hitter but I don’t think De La Hoya would stand in front of him. IMO he would move and slap him around

Oscar wasn't nearly as good at 154 as he was at 147. I know that DLH took a very good punch and was rarely hurt, but at 154 Mugabi was such a tremendous puncher. This is a tough call because most of our memories of Mugabi were after the war that he had with Hagler. I think that the most likely scenario has DLH using enough movement and keeping Mugabi at bay with his jab, and stopping to trade enough to keep Mugabi off balance to win a decision.

Oscar pulls out a close UD, 7-5 in rounds. He had enough skills to trouble John, and keep him at bay if need be.
