Witter-Ndou is on!

After some anxious moments, all signs point to go for the jr welterweight showdown between Junior Witter and Lovemore Ndou on the Hopkins-Eastman undercard Saturday at the the Staples Center in Los Angeles. "It appears that all parties have agreed to go forward with the fight," Ndou's promoter Dan Goossen told Fightnews.com. Goossen added that the bout will be a WBC 140lb eliminator, with the winner to face Gianluca Branco for the shot at the WBC title.

I hope it is, good fight for Witter and if its all true, an eliminator process with the WBC

Hardly the best preperation for either fighter. Lets hope it happens!

The WBC have obviously sanctioned it, and now they get their palms greased for what is not really and eliminator but an eliminator eliminator.... jesus.

I thought one of the sticking points was having to face Branco after this one, N'dou wasn't very keen on that, hopefully its on now though

If it is on i hope that Witter hasn't let all this mucking around bother him, needs to keep his focus

I guess both fighters are ready to box and with both not knowing what was happening, it should put them on an even playing field. I think Witters state of mind should be fine, he seems to be that type of guy who is ready to box at a given time (Apart from Pinto )

I agree, its a shame its not a straight shot for the WBC title for the winner.

I think Witter should win this fight well and at long last if he keeps winning he should get his shot, next time I hope at more than nine days notice

He's done his thing, won the titles the correct way and is in the process for the famous "Green" Belt.

If the winner has to fight Branco then how is it an eliminator? And wasn't this exactly whay N'dou was complaining about in the first place?

Yes, why does Branco get another shot at the title after only just losing a vacant tilt. Mind you, same could be said of our Clinton Woods.

I'm guessing Branco gets a shot because everyone involved in the WBC title mix-up can walk through him (and everyone, not least the WBC knows it), and therefore doesn't mind fighting him in an eliminator. Hence more money for the WBC, I guess. Although I'm sure you were being rhetorical.

As for Woods.... well, I'm still not sure. Fair play to his promoters, I guess. Perhaps he's also seen as an easy money-maker for eliminater status?

WHy would either of them bother with Branco? He'll only pull out with a month to go clearing the way for a belt shot.

The only thing that will piss me off is if Witter wins and then people start saying well N'Dou never had time to train or didnt know he was fighting you till the last minute (taking the glory away for Witter)

i hope junior wins but i think he may get done on points, however there will be no such derision from me should he come through this test.

equally so form the witter fans i hope there is not going to be over the top gloating should he come through at the detriment of hatton.

Take each fighters achievements on their merits.

you dont have to support one or the other you know, its nice to dsee British boxers do well on the world scene, god knows we need some.

Witter could get to a genuine world title first though. If he can get by N'dou I would give Witter a much better chance against Gatti than Hatton against Tszyu.

Yes that's probably a fair assessment.

As for Woods, the fact he has a following of his own makes him a good candidate, although having a world title shot in Rotheram does take the biscuit a bit. Most of the light heavies outside of Tarver don't really have much of a following, so I guess Woods is a good bet for them.

Full credit to Dennis Hobson he has done a fantastic job with Woods' career. Some of the 'big boys' in boxing should take note!

woudl be good tho hey, who knows here is hoping.

This is a good match up, and a very winnable fight for Witter, looking at N'dou's record one victory that is compariable is against Fred Kinuthia, N'dou could only beat him on a majority decision, where Witter destroyed him in 2 rounds.

If Witter can stop N'dou it will look an excellent result , i take Witter to come home on points.

Yes I noticed that result. N'dou is more of a relentless sort though, not a fast handed banger.

This is great news. I believe Witter will KO Ndou probably around the middle rounds. Witter won't need Hatton after that. Hatton can fight all the TBA's he wants while Witter is fighting the Cotto's, Mayweather's and Gatti's! I love it!
