Seems like Ruiz and Toney are fighting pretty soon. I think this is a good fight and I sit on the fence as regards picking a winner. We know Toney is slick and has a good defence but Ruiz has that jab and grab tactics and has the power to KO Toney with his sneaky right hand IMO. Toney is a good inside fighter though but with Ruiz he wouldn't be FIGHTING inside he would be holding and hitting.

Hard fight to call this one.

My guess is that Toney keeps hitting Ruiz every time he tries to grab on. Toney is a fantastic inside fighter, he is very well schooled, and will be able to keep a hand free to twat Ruiz with.

I don´t think Toney can wrestle 12 rounds with Ruiz. Another UD for the Wrestler if this fight would happen. IMO Toney quits this fight because he is just a trashtalking MF.

Yeah i don't care much for Toney either but i hope he beats Ruiz, the Boxer over the brawler.

Just a trash talking MF? The guy has held belts in 4 weight divisions, what are you on about.

Ali was a trash talking MF too, it's just part of the hooplah, Toney turns it on for the cameras. Apparently he's a lot different one on one.

It's all, or mostly, to sell tickets.

It would be horrible if Toney lost to Ruiz.

In heavy Toney is a nobody. Ali is a top 5 heavy (of all times).

In his defence i think he tore his arm ligaments in the early rounds Bubi versus Booker.

Booker is a nothing. he should have knocked him out in the early rounds. Toney will get a bad loss vs Ruiz and will retire.

Yes, his biceps partially seperated from the muscle preventing him from landing any power shots.

I still say his knockout of Holyfield was impressive, I've never seen anyone pick Holyfield apart like that and hurt him so easily. The body shots he landed were phenomenal.

Toney MUST get some weight off though, he's bulking up too much with weigh trianing. He should come in around 215 with a bit less muscle mass.

James, come on. Holyfield has been ruining his name for the last years and failed to retire in the right moment like Lewsi did. he is not better than Julius Francis, seriously. Even Francis has a better chin. Toney has to prove how good he is in heavy. for me it´s unbelievable that he has such a good ranking for 2 fights.

No sorry, Holyfield is still better than Julius Francis. He's also still durable, Toney is the only man, along with Bowe to actually stop him.

Holy is done for a long time. watch his last fight vs an average man. a win over Holy is nothing special anymore. his prime is almost ten years away.

Yes, his prime is almost a decade away, but his prime was a lot higher than Julius' francis' prime. He was outpointed by a fringe contender in his last fight, but not bashed up.

i just wanted to say that both boxers failed to retire some years ago. Maybe Francis does it for some thousand pounds he needs, i don´t know. this would be understandable. But Holy is multi-millionaire.......

From what I've been told recently, Holyfield is nowhere near as well off as people might think. He has untold palimony payments, he's had something like 10 children out of wedlock, a divorce settlement, and has probably frittered a lot of that money away. Divorce and Palimony settlements are bloody expensive in America if you're a high profile sports star, you get taken to the fornicating cleaners. Disgusting really. I mean, fair enough you have a kid with someone, you fall out of love, you should have to pay your whack to bring the kid up, but it seems to get used as a form of punishment by agrieved women, who think they should get as much as they possibly can.

Nonsense, women have countless affairs, statistically far more than men in fact, how often do you hear of a man successfully taking his wife to court and getting money out of them after the separation. Almost never. Either that's because men aren't as vindictive or the courts (or jury) favour the plaintiff if it's a woman.

I think an element of jealousy comes into play, people are jealous celebrities and sports stars make a lot of money, so figure they should pay through the nose for their transgressions in the bedroom.

Probably also because America is a quasi-religious and morally conservative society, at least it's judicial framework.

This is a stick on Toney UD IMO

I'll be praying that Toney can win this one. I've got nothing against Ruiz, but inside the ring, his fights are a dreadful spectacle, while outside the ring he has no charisma what-so-ever. A Toney win would be the best thing all round.

However, I'm unsure that he'll be able to do it. He's been so plagued by injury over the last couple of years, that I'm unconvinced he'll be able to fight for twelve rounds without picking up some little niggle or other. Plus, it remains to be seen how good he actually is at heavy. So far he’s beaten a washed-up Holyfield, and an average cruiser in Booker. When it comes right down to it, he's only had one win of any note during the last five years: Jirov. How is that any marker for how well he'll do against a solid operator like Ruiz?

Disagree with most of what's been said re Toney's performances

Vs. Jirov I think this fight ruined Jirov it was epic and Toney showed immense heart skill and courage in this win

Vs. Holyfield True you can only fight what's in front of you, but Toney but a nasty clinical whupping on evander it was way more impressive than Byrd, Ruiz or Donald's win over a ranked hw

Vs. Booker I actually thought again TOney took this undefeated kid to school and dropped him, he won almost every round it was an excellent performance.

It will be interesting to see what tactics Toney uses against Ruiz. I bet it will be in the back of Toneys mind that he will want to do a better job than Roy Jones Jr did against the Quiet Man.

Toney wins a UD12 in my opinion.

It wouldnt surprise me if Toney stopped ruiz late on (10rd+) not LIGHTS OUT but wear him down and ref save ruiz from further punishment. I beleive Toney is one of the best and most skillful fighters aroud today.
