12 rounds, who wins, circa 1984?

Interesting match-up.

So let's say late November, 1984.

Mitch "Blood" Green is 15-0-1, 10 KOs, having just stopped Sammy Scaff in August in 6.

Renaldo, "Mr." Snipes is 23-4-1, 11 KOs, coming off a loss over a year earlier to Alfredo Evangelista (so he's fighting Green instead of Rickey Parkey). Anyone know why he was out of the ring for over one year?

Snipes has by far the more substantial resume, having defeated Trevor Berbick, Gerrie Coetzee, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, and Jumbo Cummings, drawn with Scott Frank and lost to Evangelista, Greg Page, Tim Witherspoon, and Larry Holmes in his world title challenge. The common opponent is Jumbo Cummings, both Green and Snipes defeated by decision.

Considering the long layoff and downward trajectory of Snipes, there may be a case here for an up-and-coming Mitch Green win by decision. However, quality of opposition and experience suggests Snipes.

I'll say the active Green (who was actually out of the ring for almost a year after Scaff before losing his first fight to Berbick) gets the nod.

Great breakdown! Under the right circumstances. Renaldo should've had a better career.

Snipes would outwork Green behind his body punches and landing big right hands, then he would win by decision.
