Billy did work as a film and TV extra down the years. He represented Britain in the 1972 Olympics in Munich and was outscored by East Germany's brilliant Jochen Bachfeld in the featherweight preliminaries, after winning his first bout. (Bachfeld filled out and won welterweight gold four years later in Montreal.) Billy turned pro and rattled off five straight wins but then dropped off the radar. I have no idea why he turned his back on the pro game. RIP Billy.

I don't know either, he continued coaching in Repton for years so was in the game, he was well known as Billy Tango, moved out to Essex, from Haggerston originally.

Sad news.

Remember Billy well as one of Repton's main coaches. Was told he was a terrific amateur. I think he left Repton and became a coach at St Monica's in Hoxton where they held London training squads back then. Not sure about the Tango adverts thing......maybe a joke flying around because of the similarity in physique.

RIP
