Fact Checking Books

Post by p4p1 »

I have started reading Sonny Liston: The Real Story Behind The Ali-Liston Fights.
I am currently only a few chapter in and already I am questioning some of the 'facts' bought about in this book. I understand that it is trying to show Liston in a positive light but some things don't seem to line up.
An example of this is how the infamous story where Liston broke the cops knee in an altercation is presented in the book as something along the lines of the cop falling over and breaking his leg. I haven't got to the Ali-Liston fight stuff yet but I don't have faith that the book will really be all that factual everywhere.

I thought this would be a great idea for a thread and if the mods see fit even a sticky. Everything in the bios and boxing books are presented as fact and was hoping that the collective knowledge on this forum would be able to shed some light on some of the books that have clear factual errors in them.

Maybe there is some books that jump to mind instantly for some of the posters as having factual errors in them. Or maybe some posters would like to double check some 'facts' that don't seem to line up.

Not to ruin the read for you, but just fair warning; the author uses a clairvoyant to communicate with Sonny.
