To be fair guys, Demetrius Andrade said he won’t face David Benavidez unless there’s a title on the line.
And if both men fought tomorrow, it would be a non-title fight.
Also, both fighters are commercially unpopular. Only die-hard boxing aficionados know anything about them.
We also shouldn’t forget the fact that Demetrius Andrade previously rejected guaranteed opportunities to fight Jermell Charlo, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Matt Korobov, Zhanibek Alimkhanuly and also the winner of the Lara-Hurd title unification bout.
So do you really think Boo Boo would be willing to accept a small purse to engage in a high-risk non-title bout against a larger opponent (i.e. Benavidez)?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m in the same boat as you guys, because I’d love to see Andrade face Benavidez, but in this case, I think Eddie Hearn is simply trying to promote Demetrius to the media (and superficially make him appear to be “relevant”), using the names of other fighters.
I know my post sounds hateful, but we shouldn’t ignore the fact that there have been a lot of high-profile fellow stablemates within DAZN over the last four or five years… and Eddie Hearn has never attempted to orchestrate fights with any of them.
Therefore, if Eddie Hearn can’t even make fights for Andrade with any of his own DAZN network stablemates, then what chance has he got making fights involving fighters from the PBC?
Anyway, we should park any discussions about a potential bout between Andrade and Benavidez for the time being, because Demetrius will be facing Zach Parker next, which would be the final bout of the four-fight contract extension he signed with Matchroom over two years ago.
I guess Andrade is making good money on DAZN, so probably he is not rushing to risk his 0 unless is against Canelo or GGG.
Can you post a link with the offer or talks of Andrade vs Lara-Hurd winner ? That would've been one of the best matches that Andrade could've got at 154 ! Chenko at 160 too.
I've already posted the Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Lara links in another thread discussing Andrade's ducking.
He vacated his WBA 154lbs strap pretty much immediately after capturing it against Jack Culcay, despite being in line to face the eventual winner of the Lara-Hurd title unification.

And despite his own team accepting the terms of the Derevyanchenko fight, Andrade turned down the bout, claiming he needed more than seven weeks to prepare.
The weird thing was... his team actually knew about the proposed fight-date when they initially commenced discussions.
So Team Andrade should have rejected the bout from the get-go, rather than wasting everybody's time. Team Derevyanchenko were pretty annoyed about it.

I haven't got the time now, but there are other articles that go into much more detail about Andrade's weird decision-making for those situations.
The Matt Korobov situation was fairly amusing though, because the WBO officially announced their confusion for Andrade initially lobbying to challenge for their vacant world title, but then immediately rejecting it when he discovered he had to face the Russian!
Demetrius’ dad claimed that Jermell Charlo had low-balled him by only offering a paltry $250K (causing them to withdraw from the fight at very late notice), but other members of Team Andrade denied this... and six months later, Boo Boo’s own lawsuit notes (against Roc Nation) stated they were actually offered $550K for the bout, despite his previous career-high being the $200K he received to face Brian Rose.
So Team Andrade blatantly lied about the Jermell Charlo situation! And this isn't idle gossip or hearsay, it's their actual words from lawsuit documentation!
We really don't need to discuss the Zhanibek Alimkhanuly situation any further, do we? I predicted he'd duck that fight two months before it eventually happened.
These problems were either caused by Andrade's team or himself, because what they often told the media was at odds with either their own lawsuit documentation or verbatim quotes from members of his own entourage.
