I thought this deserved a thread of its own despite there being a lengthy Khan/Brook one already.
We are alway quick to criticise the undercards Eddie Hearn dishes up but for a pay-per-view event undercard this is an absolute stinker...probably the worst PPV undercard ever seen. Apart from the Natasha Jonas fight there is nothing and no one (and the Jonas fight isnt all that either).

So why?........ is it -

Because Brook/Khan have drained all of the funds with their financial demands?

Because the Boxxer stable isnt strong enough to carry 2 big shows in a fortnight?

Because Ben Shalom isnt a big enough pull yet to stack a big PPV card (prob linked to the point above)?

Because the tickets sold out so quickly based on the main event that there is absolutely no need to stack the undercard?

Should the Williams/Eubank fight have been on the same card as Brook/Khan PPV?

It is simply good business.

A good undercard will not add anything in terms of ticket or PPV sales.

So why pay for it?

It’s the worst PPV undercard I can remember. They’ve done because unfortunately the majority of people who’ll buy are casual fans and only care about the main event so those involved want to profit as much as they can from it.

The Eubank/Williams fight deserved its own card but it’s not like that was stacked either. They could have put Riakporhe in a decent fight or Marku or several others.

Eddie used to be criticised for some of his undercards and some of that was fair but Shalom doesn’t put himself out there as much to even be criticised about it.

I don’t know what you’re talking about! I’ll be buying it mainly for the historical Natasha Jonas fight and see if she can go up 25lbs, make history and win a world title against legend Chris Namus, who is one of the few females to have been knocked out in a round, and lost her last fight against star Ema Kozin who recently lost a close decision against global superstar glitter shedder Claressa Shileds, the Marvin Hagler of female boxing….. if you don’t love this fight you’re a hater, misogynist and cazzie.

Of course its good business but I do disagree with your other comments.

Johnny Fisher sold 3-4000 tickets for his fight the other day, this would have made a massive difference, obviously in a bigger venue.

Another point is that if the main even falls (illness or injury) then the whole show is gone, and big expense to the promoter i should think. If there was another top fight on the PPV bill....... a williams/eubank..... or something of that ilk. Then the show would carry on.

With Covid 19 rife Ben Shalom took a massive gamble with a PPV bill based purely on one fight. It wont stand him in very good stead for the future as somewhere along the line this strategy will fall on its face.

Awful from Boxxer. They could have even put on another knockout tournament on the bill. Matchroom is streets ahead of Queensberry and Boxxer when it comes to cards.

If they wanted another 4000 ticket sales, they didn’t need another fighter on the bill. They could have done that anyway - this sold out in record time.

They obviously made a call this venue was the best for the job and it wasn’t worth upscaling. A sold out arena is part of the PPV buzz.

I will be paying for it.

It’s too late of course… but it’s a 50/50 fight, between two high profile fighters who have genuine needle.

They have seen better days, but are putting their reputations on the line.

Maybe the main event on youtube a few days later, and only if its good, which it will more than likely be sad. I don't steal.

If you wanna watch a fight and I do wanna watch this one then you want to be able to relax and enjoy it without fear of the stream freezing or buffering 3 times a minute.

No doubt I’ll be moaning about the £20 when I’m listening to Adam smith insanely bigging up some irrelevant girls fight while I’m waiting for the main event but when Khan and Brook are eyeballing each other in the ring before the first bell I’ll be happy I paid it

A decent IPTV provider doesnt buffer/lag. And its not illegal where i live.
