anyone know with whom Machen had sparred with ?

well found one so far,
Machen sparred with Willie Besmanoff (while Machen was training to fight Liston in 1960)

Sparred with Liston in the late 60's in San Francisco.

hey man, what is the source for the info that Liston had used Eddie Machen as a sparring partner ?
( your not confusing Eddie Machen with Mac Foster are you ?)

I read it in an old newspaper-from 67 or 68.

I read it a while ago(maybe 2 years) after I subscribed to newspapers.com. I only remember it was in San Fran, late 60's-I was surprised to read it as I never heard or read about it before.

you may probably be referring to around the time that Sonny Liston's fight with Henry Clark July 1968 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco
( however Machen's last pro fight was with Boone Kirkman in May 1967)
but Liston did return to the USA from Sweden sometime around the late Spring of 1967
and maybe Eddie Machen could certainly have used the 'Doe-Ray-Me" as a sparring partner.
so who knows for sure ?

Eddie Machen had also sparred with British HW Billy "Golden Boy" Walker in 1964.
( or at least gave Walker some boxing tips)
