Press Release

British super-lightweight Ohara Davies believes Probellum can deliver him world title opportunities after he became the latest name to join their stable of fighters.

The London-born fighter is edging closer a shot at the WBA belt after ending over 12 months of inactivity with a dominant points win back in November.

On that card Davies (23-2, 16 KOs) was due to face former lightweight title holder, the hard-hitting Ismael Barroso, in an official eliminator between the WBA’s No2 and No3 ranked fighters at 140lbs but his Venezuelan rival was forced to pull out and Davies believes that with Probellum’s backing, he can secure a shot at the belt.

“I’m back and the super-lightweight division is officially on notice now that I’ve teamed up with Probellum,” said Ohara Davies.

“I’m already high up in the rankings and believe that with Probellum’s backing, I can fulfil my dream and become world champion soon. Mark my words - it’s only a matter of time.

“Anyone at 140lbs who is standing is my way of a world title shot best get out of the way, otherwise they are going to get knocked out.”

Davies has only ever lost twice as a professional and the two men to have beaten him – Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall – clash for the undisputed super-lightweight crown later this month, and ‘Two Tanks’ Davies and Probellum are focused on a shot at the winner.

“We are delighted to be able to add Ohara to our stable of fighters. Ohara has a big personality but delivers an even bigger punch in the ring – there is no doubt that he is one of the strongest guys at 140lbs,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum.

“He has the talent and it is now our task to deliver the opportunities in order for him to take that next step in his career and go to world title level.”

The 30-year-old is joining a clutch of other top-rated super-lightweights in the Probellum stable with Regis Prograis and Tyrone McKenna fighting on the second night of Probellum Evolution’s double-header in Dubai next month.

Davies is sure to be keeping one eye on how his rivals fare on March 19 but his focus will be fixed on moving further up the WBA rankings and into a position to challenge for the title.

The winner was supposed to sign this big contract with a big promoter..

2 years later and he’s signed to Problem.

I mean Jazza got his shot.. and fought a main event with Galahad on a Matchroom card. Was decent for him.

Ah loved the way Taylor done him over.

An absolute Bawbag who thinks being pals with fanny's from that Essex program makes you some superior boxer.

It was a great night, and good to see him and his hangers on getting the pelters

Of all the words available to us, it has to be said that one of my all time favourites is "bawbag"., matched only by the somewhat similar "cuntybaws" :salut:

I do think he was wronged. Umar_IFL_Umar had bad tweets unearthed and he wasn't affected.

How come you think he was wronged?

If he was a ticket seller he would still be with Hearn after the comments. Do you think Hearn drops Warrington for those comments? I bet all the tea in China he would have strong words but then work it out.

Cos he made a stupid joke which he was too stupid to even know why it could have been considered offensive. He apologised as soon as it was explained to him, but he got the chop anyway. If he’d been a ticket seller, Hearn would have definitely ignored it.

Promoters love a ticket seller no matter what he says or does.

He didn’t get the chop though. He was taken off one show and was still offered a contract extension by Matchroom.

This wasn’t a case of one tweet and he taken off - it was the seemingly latest thing said to antagonise Liverpool fight fans. He said he didn’t know the context of the Sun and Liverpool but who knows.

He tries to be akin to a wrestling heel but I wasn’t overly surprised he was suspended.

Hearn told him to act the heel though. Around the time of the Matthews fight. I will find the exact video as it's not hard with Eddie to get receipts.

Yeah. It’s one thing acting the heel but he’s just went too far I think. The Sun thing may have been completely innocent but it was probably the straw that broke the camel’s back.

There’s a difference between acting like a heel to wind your opponent up and the fans and saying some of the things he did. He just went too far with it. He’s a big pro wrestling fan (used to have the Undertaker’s theme as his entrance song) and probably thought he was peak Ric Flair but he just turned nasty with it.
