Kell Brook as an amateur

There are several reports on sparring sessions at Sheffield when both were amateurs. But while Khan´s amateur career is well documented, I wonder what did Kell Brook do as an amateur? He won gold at the 2003 Four Nations as a Junior (he was 17). What about any national titles or other international tournaments before turning pro at 18?

He won the Junior ABAs in 2003 and 2004 beating Craig Bunn from Northside ABC each time.

Off his website:
"By the end of his tenure he had won 31 of his 36 fights, winning two Amateur Boxing Association of England titles and two National Association of Boys Clubs British Boxing Championships and a Gold medal in the 4 Nations"

Thanks! Surprised he turned pro with only 36 bouts at 18. Would have expected the double. Khan had around 100 if I recall correctly.

I've not heard that before. Johnny Nelson lost 10 of his 13 amateur bouts.

When he was about 13, I think he went a full season without competing. When Southpaw logs on he'll know as well as anyone.

Khan said last night he couldn't remember the spar and admitted he'd been making up stories about it for nearly 2 decades.

That’s one of the things that always has annoyed me with Amir - he talks down to people and I thought he’s always talked down to Kell. Just like he did at the press conference a few days back.
