The dreaded "footstomp"

Just how dangerous is this move? I'm seeing it more and more with each UFC event.
I am concerned about fighters safety, and feel it should be a "banned" move.
It appears to be every bit as deadly as the upkick, and the Noon to 6:00 Elbow to face strike.
How many more fighters will be subject to this mortal threat before we put an end to footstompin?
