Bugner was a weird one. As he was, it would be tough to pick. If he was able to fully engage when stepping up, Joe has the goods to easily beat AJ. Unfortunately Joe would be happy to lose a UD to AJ and call it a day.

I find the flip flopping hilarious

I was there with you. I did not see what others see.
I also do not understand the Fury is a top 10 all time heavyweight hype either.
Before Klitschko fight people called hi a bum who couldn't box. Then he was a master boxer in the mold of Ali. When knocked down by cunningham he was called chinny and couldn't take a punch. Then gets knocked down numerous times by Wilder and people are like look how he recovered he has a chin of granite.
WTF is going on with this?

Why not let their careers play out before claiming they are an all time great? Let's see how it plays out. At least wait until their careers are winding down before making such insane comparisons

It'll always happen. Fights aren't like team sports. We have way more time to chat and less time to watch. Baseball; Basketball; Football, etc. play every other day or every week, so less time to think about things.

Never was sold on Joshua, but Bugner wouldn't win him.

Must be AJ on points.

Bugner had the chin/skills to survive and in very elite company - win some rounds too - but not nearly enough pop on his punches to impose himself or look good with the judges.

At a domestic level he stepped-in and banged over a few guys.

It is the same old story with Joe......everything was there apart from a hook or uppercut that dissuaded the very top guys from moving to the middle of the ring and which grabbed Joe some extra rounds with a hard, clean shot.

I think some people "flip flop". They realize that they overrated a guy (Joshua in this case) after they see him/look bad.

Other people just never said much about him earlier. They realized that he was untested.

I agree that people rush to judgement way too early for active fighters.
Agree that we should wait until their careers are winding down before rating them among the greats. It actually takes longer to figure how good a fighter actually is nowadays. The top guys often avoid each other like the plague. Contenders don't fight other contenders like they used to. Look at Joshua. After all this time, he still never fought Wilder or Fury.

We simply don't have enough information to go on a lot of the time.

only 1 person actually outright picked bugner, so what's all the flip flopping talk about? and did they even call aj a great before?

i'd go with aj too, bug would be put into his shell and not do enough :bag:

AJ by either decision or late round stoppage after throwing and landing more punches than Bugner.
