Following a triumphant launch event in November, the next two installments of the BOXXER SERIES have been announced today by BOXXER, the next-generation British boxing promotion

In the first BOXXER SERIES event of 2022, eight lightweights will line up at the Coventry Skydome Arena on Saturday, April 16 to battle it out for the grand prize, live on Sky Sports.

The following month, eight cruiserweights will convene in Sheffield Arena on Saturday, May 21 to contest their own one-night tournament in search of career-best prize money and breakout opportunities.

Launched in November 2021 with an event in Liverpool, the BOXXER SERIES event format features an eight-man, one-night tournament: four semi-finals, two semi-finals and a grand final.

The victorious boxer takes the lion’s share of the prize fund for one-night tournament boxing while every boxer in the tournament has the chance to put a spotlight on himself by putting on a standout performance on the nation’s biggest sports television platform.

Featuring a mix of former champions and rising stars competing under short-form boxing rules (3 x 3-minute rounds), BOXXER SERIES tournaments offer an unparalleled platform for grassroots British boxing and can send winner’s names rocketing up the rankings list.

Promising non-stop action from start to finish, BOXXER SERIES events are planned for every major city in the UK and will feature each region’s best boxing talent, rising stars and local heroes.

November’s launch event saw young Birmingham Super-Lightweight prospect Cori Gibbs win three fights in one night to emerge with his undefeated record intact, his largest-ever professional purse and a long-term promotional agreement with BOXXER and Sky Sports Boxing.

The event produces career opportunities for more than just the winners, with many of the other Liverpool participants also having secured advantageous future career opportunities as a result of their performances that night.

In Coventry next month, eight top British lightweights will compete to secure those same spoils for themselves - along with the chance to make their name known to every boxing fan in the country and put themselves on the radar in one of boxing’s most storied divisions.

Lightweight - one of the sport’s eight ‘Glamour Divisions’ - has been home to some of the biggest names in boxing history, including Roberto Durán, Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Then in May, the cruiserweights head to Sheffield for what is certain to be a night of explosive action.

Cruiserweight is one of the deepest divisions in British boxing today and the Sheffield contenders will be looking for a breakout win which sets them on track to follow fellow British standouts Richard Riakporhe, Mikael Lawal and Viddal Riley into the Sky Sports limelight.

Tournament participants will be announced in the coming days.

Not sure on names or prices yet. They shouldn’t be too expensive and I’d be very surprised if they sell out. I think it will hold about 4,000 in there.

No - although I worked in the centre of Birmingham for 6 years in my 20s. Live in Rugby now as I work in London (50 mins on the train) and my wife works in Birmingham.

I'm a bit on my own picking Joe Underwood Hughes.
I think he has potential.
Nice jab, some unorthodox shots, and he is quick to get his hands back up after firing them. He also does quality sparring and is in great shape in the clips I've seen.

side note Otis Lookham has a boxrec international ranking, but no national ranking... never seen that before.

people prob know little about most these guys tbh, charlton's the only one who has gotten much exposure and expectedly leads the voting. even as a hardcore fan its tough to be all that familiar with most guys at this level

I dont know them either really, just checked em out. So on a glance id say its charlton, or gibs. Yet gibs is getting no love so people must have real opinions on those other guys, which is kinda impressive. 300-500th ranked lightweights in the world rarely stick in my memory.

im guessing a lot of people only recognize charlton (he's had much greater exposure than the rest) and hence that''s why they vote for him, hard to pick a guy if you know nothing about him

I was looking forward to this but something weird has happened.
It was listed on the Sky guide so I booked to record it.
Then I checked my booking and it has gone- no longer showing it, but now the Conner Benn mismatch is listed even though it is on DAZN and Boxxer is Sky.
What the heck.
