Jean Pascal has been back in the gym for three weeks, in anticipation of his next fight on May 21. The 38-year-old boxer has just had his six-month suspension – imposed by the WBA – come to an end last November for using illegal substances.

He revealed to La Presse that he will face the Chinese Meng Fanlong, number one contender for the IBF light heavyweights, on May 21, in Florida. Meng is still undefeated with his record of 17 victories, including 10 by knockout. This will be a first fight in 31 months for Jean Pascal (35-6-1, 20 KOs).

But above all, the fighter wants to rebuild the confidence of his supporters. And prove that he is "an honest and clean athlete".

Meng is fighting Kovalev on Triller next month.

Kovalev vs Fanlong was supposed to be almost done, but no done deal yet.

Unless Pascal don't know it yet that Kovalev got the fight.

It’s done mate. They just announced the venue today after announcing the change of date a few days back.

Good,too bad for Pascal.

In the ring in May
On July 12, the WBA stripped Pascal of his regular light heavyweight title in addition to suspending him for six months. He says he's not done with the sport that made him famous and will step back into the ring on May 21, in Florida.

“I am an athlete who thrives on challenges. Yesterday I signed a contract for a fight against Fanlong Meng, a Chinese with a record of 17-0 and 10 knockouts. He is the number one contender for the IBF title, he explains.

"This fight will open a door for me to become world champion a third time."

Meng was scheduled to fight Artur Beterbiev in September 2020, but a visa issue prevented him from participating in the duel.

OBVIOUSLY something going on that pascal don't know.

At -4:00 in the video pascal said "i sign a contract yesterday to fight fanlong on the 21st of may"

Mate.Just a rumor from BS for now.

Hopefully Meng will be able to fight Kovalev in April, Pascal in May, and some other dude in June.

Pascal and Kovalev are both past-their-prime fighters, but I don’t think either man is completely shot.

So I expect both of these faded fighters to still have enough left in their respective gas tanks to beat the unproven padded resume-owning Meng Fanlong.
