I know he says a lot of things but he seemed pretty adamant in interview the other day that this is his last fight (assuming he wins). He wants to go out on the top with his health intact and he has more money than he will ever need. He has won everything and has more to lose than gain these days. He pretty much dismissed AJ and assuming Usyk beats him again how would AJ get a title shot anytime soon. What do you think?

Just like he didn’t retire after all of the other times he’s mentioned it.
It developed headlines which is what he would have wanted when he didn’t have Whyte to hammer verbally.

I think the situation in Ukraine makes Fury vs AJ a lot more realistic with the just the WBC title on the line.
It will be a PR disaster if Eddie / AJ threaten legal action against Usyk - especially given it took AJ months to find a new trainer - and he's working with someone within his old team and took weeks to humm and hahh about stepping aside. It will also be a disaster if any of the sanctioning bodies strip Usyk - just like champions from 1939-1945 kept their belts.
Usyk could be out of action for some time - so I can see AJ having to make some money and not just waiting for Usyk - I think it will be an interim fight and then Fury. I think then Fury might call it a day - I cannot see him waiting potentially years for Usyk.

Agree with this. Whyte then Joshua then retirement or rematch (then retirement). All this year and spring next year if a rematch is needed. Fury will be more than happy to dodge the Usyk bullet.

There must be some chance Fury turns up out of shape, drops a decision or late stoppage to Whyte and ends up in a unsightly trilogy maul that spans the next couple of years. This might end up looking a bit like Holyfield v John Ruiz, the taller/heavier version.

It was a very reasonable statement Fury made - that he had £100 million already; he has earnt more than he could spend in a million lifetimes; if he spends that then he doesnt deserve to earn anymore.
Ok, aside from Fury demonstrating that he is shockingly bad at maths; he is also someone who is easy to tell when they are lying (because his lips move) and has similar examples of saying very big things that he then chose to forget (the multi-million fight purse to charity), so its a safe bet to say that if he wins against Whyte he will fight again.

I thought that before the Wilder 3 fight, but he has talked since about taking a lot of damage in that one. Plus the elbow surgeries, large family etc. He might be serious.

Good stuff. Thanks for that. So his company is doing good. Obviously there would be a lot of tax to pay on taking that out into his personal hands, 10 million quid + probably. So £150 million in the bank is highly unlikely, don't you think? Which would suggest we can't take what he says too seriously, as we know.

Nowhere have I even suggested that Tyson is skint .. take another look and ask someone to read it for you.
All I have suggested is that what he says is not to be taken as truth. And you clarify that yourself by identifying that he does not have the £150 million he said, and you also think that he will fight again.

Anyone changed their mind? Fury still adamant this is it and I was listening to a podcast with someone who has spent time with Fury recently and he thinks Fury will retire after this after listening to him.

I think it’s clear he wants no part of Usyk. He’s constantly belittling him over his size & not speaking English well & says he’s not worthy of a fight with him.
If Joshua somehow beats Usyk he’ll soon change his tune about retiring I’d guarantee it.

An AJ fight would have been a huge event in this country. I know Tyson has well outsold AJ but AJ had a few fans as well.
