Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker Talks Continue, Good Progress Being Made

Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce is potentially going to land the biggest fight of his pro career, as negotiations continue for a showdown with former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

Joyce and Parker have yet to debut in 2022. Both saw action last year.

In his last fight, Joyce stopped division veteran Carlos Takam, while Parker secured a dominant twelve round unanimous decision win over Derek Chisora.

There is some progress being made, with both sides hoping to reach an agreement.

"It's a massive fight. We're still negotiating it - it's not finalized yet but good progress is being made. It's the biggest fight outside the top four guys fighting. It's the biggest fight on the heavyweight scene right now," said Adam Morallee of SJAM management, who guides the career of Joyce, to Sky Sports.

"We hope we can land it and we hope we can land in the UK for the UK fight fans to watch Joe Joyce continue his ascent to the top of the division."

Both Parker and Joyce are gunning to secure a world title fight - but the current champions are already on schedule for other assignments.

Tyson Fury will make a mandatory defense of his WBC world title against Dillian Whyte on April 23. And IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk will have his rematch with Anthony Joshua on a date in June.

The winners of the two heavyweight fights could be in line to face each other in the fall.

Because Joyce is already next in line for a WBO mandatory crack, the winner of a clash with Parker would secure a title shot in the near future.

Almost too good a fight, i want em both moving fowards.

Very hard to pick, Joyces plod probably slightly too much and just out cardio parker.., but parker would have one hell of a speed advantage and land a lot of leather early, so if that dinted joyce could change things.

Potentially what happened for few rounds vs Takam could happen for 8 rounds or more. Parker is very well seasoned and strong himself. Takam had no problems repeatedly looping right hands onto Joyce’s enormous chin. Maybe Parker will be the one to remember Joyce got hurt by a body shot from Bryant Jennings, and look to mix the attack up.

Good fight. Parker can be hurt and has been down as we've seen against Whyte (Whyte's head-butt did soften him, granted) and Chisora, but he gets up and seems like a very hard bloke. Joyce is enormous and never stops throwing, and can box to a game plan when he wants. With Takam, he didn't show any respect and just walked him down. Parker is bigger and stronger and punches harder, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Joyce actually use his massive noggin in this fight and box his way to a decision, or a grinding late stoppage.

Tough one for either lad, though.

Can be so. Parker can went timid under constant mauling pressure by Joe.

On paper a fantastic fight, in reality it might be a little dull.
For me I think Parker easily out points slow Joe over 12 rounds that will seem like 15.
The difference in hand speed, and movement is considerable.
For slow Joe to win, it would take Parker to stand in front of him and go toe to toe - something Parker is silly enough to do- so you never know...
45/55 to Parker.

joe p never easily beats any good fighter. the difference in hand speed is big, but despite joe having quick hands he's not a very accurate puncher, hope this one happens, it's a good clash of abilities and styles, and it's the type of fight joyce needs to be having next

Parker never seems to keep his foot on the gas; and vs Joyce, he'd have to. JJ late stoppage.

It's not only about Parker's accuracy, he simply won't hurt the iron-chinned Joyce.

He could go to the body?

He did well against Del.

Possibly. Anyway, Joyce is bigger and fresher, than Del, a more threatening matchup for sure.

Worst kept secret of summer 2022
I'm not sure anything has been signed, never put it past Fwank to promote a passing cloud if he can.

If I am team Parker I am working over time on a left hook to the body. Only thing that's troubled Joyce to date, rip a few of them in could really help his cause.

Good call :TU:
Parker would break his hands targeting the chin.

Can't believe Warren was talking about putting this in a stadium. He would need a much better undercard than tonight to have a chance of selling out the o2 Arena.

It was a really strange announcement of sorts.

FW talking about it being on for July and then Parker says it’s not signed yet. Strange to be announcing anything when it’s not signed. Also they went straight to Parker for comments rather than their supposed home fighter in Joyce.

Surely frank can get an interim WBO title on the line for this... He is the king of WBO. And honestly, by july it will probably be worthy. hell if it after AJ vs Usyk mabey even a vacant belt WBO strap.

Sure there was a WBO mandatory recently, but it was a cruiser cutting the line (fair)... When was the last WBO mando taken from heavyweight rankings? parker vs hughie in 2017? and WBO mando is back of the line.

top fights like this deserve reward, although im generaly against belt shinanigans, i hope this gets a Interim or vacant just encourage those that take risky matches.

He should focus on getting a deal done first with Parker.

Ease off Frank for 24 hours maybe Maverick? Just put on one of the great Boxing events and moments.

I agree re: last night’s event. Despite the undercard it was still £25 we’ll spent.

I just thought it was really strange to announce a fight that wasn’t signed. I’d be saying the same regardless of who was promoting.
