Tom Sharkey killed by Gus Ruhlin

I was doing some digging through old newspapers, and came across this strange report in The Daily Ardmoreite from Oklahoma, on the 28th June 1900.

Quote: "Tom Sharkey died yesterday from the injuries sustained in bloody fight with Gus Ruhlin at the Seaside Athletic Club."

In reality, it appears Sharkey lived to the ripe old age of 79, and reports of his death were much exaggerated.

It’s not like the media to just blatantly put out something unverified and false
