12 or 15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
Either Mercer or Berbick would outhustle and outpunch one another to take a decision. Imo, Mercer would get the better of Berbick with solid jabs and punches to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Berbick once outsmarted the good jabber Thomas, but that was sorta exception in the mediocre career of Berbick. If Trevor outboxed Mercer for some rounds, then Mercer would fight sharper and pull out a win in a brawl.

Ray would win a decision, for some reason I thinks he outtoughs Trevor.

Fascinating matchup, and I honestly think it could go either way.
It's true - as you guys point out - that Berbick was notoriously inconsistent. But on his better nights he was pretty good, genuinely world-class. Add to this the reality that Mercer, too, often performed below potential, and it's clear anything could happen between this pair.
In this face-off, Berbick and Mercer might each put on stellar performances. Or they might both stink the joint out. Another possibility is that one fights well while the other is sluggish. We're talking about a crap-shoot of different outcomes in there.
One thing I'm fairly confident of, though, is that it goes the distance. If either scores a stoppage, it would be Mercer, but I don't think he could take out a guy like Berbick.
