Would Wilder stand a chance?

The comeback from behind with the Ko punch approach that we have seen him utilize in the past I just don't see it working vs Usyk, trying that stuff would more likely lead to a Usyk ko win I think.

What about the jab and the range. We have seen Wilder develope a pretty good jab during his career. Could he simply shut Usyk out and keep him away for the entire 12?

Usyk would destroy him

Wilder is tailor made for Usyk IMO. Still with his one punch power can be somewhat unpredictable, but tall stationary boxers are no problem for Usyk. Bring some short, powerful guy with stamina and high workrate and that is problem for ukrainan.

In a different setting, Wilder could have beaten Fury twice - in fact, if it was a role reversal on UK soil, no way does the 12th round count even start, and the 2nd KD in the 4th could well have been waved off.

No doubt Usyk is a better boxer. I'd imagine would be a strong favourite.

For a BoxRec tourney, I'd go for Usyk,ko,9

For real money, punchers make me nervous. Wouldn't touch it.

also, some ppl simplify it a bit much with wilder. talking like his opponents need to go 12 rounds without getting hit by a single right hand.

it's fully possible that usyk could withstand the right if he's only taking a couple. or usyk could go down but get up to take over. fury did it, and ortiz also got up from a kd to win numerous rounds and have wilder teetering around the ring. a big strength of usyk's is his excellent engine, which aside from avoiding gassing (like ortiz 1) also helps dudes recover from rough patches

Wilder can knock anyone out if they stand still of course, but I just can't see him landing on Usyk. The stoppage would be there for him if he went for it, but with Wilder's power to keep him honest I'd be surprised if he did.

Facile win for Usyk.

Usyk is levels above as a boxer. Fury did shotouts over Wilder, so will do Usyk. Can Usyk take Wilder's power? More likely yes. Usyk ate clean shots of Gassiev and Joshua.

Although a great boxer, Usyk is not unbeatable. It's good he had a couple fights before jumping in with AJ.

If the question was asked right after the Chisora fight, most would give Wilder a very good chance. Chisora still has power, but slow.

No reason to do it right now. If Wilder comes back and gets some KO wins. He's back in the mix.

In pure boxing terms the gap is astronomical.

Usyk just wouldn't give Wilder the fight he wants, and there's no way Deontay could make him do it.

It's common for boxingfans to misinterpret the results of fights. It could be that Usyk beat AJ in style so maybe he is "all that" or maybe AJ is and was severely overrated and Usyk also had the perfect style to beat him.

Me personally I'd pick Joyce, Ortiz and Wilder to beat AJ and maybe some other dudes also.

Just like he was before Fury, and don't forget Fury seemed like a soft target to Wilder's team, before he wasn't.
No, if Wilder fights again, expect the same sort of cab drivers, rail yard hobos and past it punch bags he fought before, with similar spectacular knockouts after losing every round.

How many current heavyweights can say they fought their last 5 or 6 guys that were in the top 5 or 10? When you have limited amateur experience, you are fed easier opponents until you get good experience. Could you name a few of Canelo's 1st 35 opponents?

bermane stiverne and dom breazeale are among the best 3 opponents wilder's beat in 45 fights lol, talk about quantity over quality. although props for fighting fury, even if he failed to win in 3 tries

I'd have to favor Usyk, but Wilder, like Earnie Shavers, always has that puncher's chance against about anybody.

Of course Wilder would stand a chance, particularly with his unpredictable wild swinging and Usyk can be caught but I suspect he'd stop Wilder mid to late rounds.

Wilders power is the most overrated in the last 50 years of boxing. Some of the guys who stood up to his best punches says it all.

duhaupas took an insane amount of clean, loaded up shots from him and never went down. stiverne in the first fight took absolutely tons too and went the distance on his feet

his power is huge no doubt, though some ppl go overboard with the whole thingy that he just needs to touch a guy with 1 right and the fights over. the whole 'wilder's opponent needs to be perfect' stuff. no they dont.
