Seeing Lewis rocking the grey beard yesterday and looking up his record, 19 years since the Vitali fight, seriously doesn’t seem that long ago.

Btw I thought Lewis deserved the victory, Vitali showed heart and courage but it was punches not butts that caused the damage so correct decision.

I was a uni student when Lewis fought Vitali, I’ve got a grey beard as well now Lewis definitely deserved the victory, fight was only going one way at the time of the stoppage.

It races. In the same length of time since Lennox fought Mike Tyson, Mike had gone from being in his dad's ball sack to the cusp of being heavyweight champion. It's frightening.

Remember the Vitali fight well, watched it in a bar in Vegas the night before I got married, good fight to go out on.

One of the last punches of the fight was a right to the temple which really hurt Vitali. He looked like being in real trouble had the fight continued.

I’m sure there’s lots more fights like this where the loser….in fact came out the winner in the long run

Yep .. born early 70's here .. the 40's to me is like 1000 years before I was born; but the 1990's was like yesterday

I remember discussing Lennox the night before he'd rolled of Razor Ruddock with one of the trainer's at my then gym .. I was convinced Ruddock was the next best thing; I held Lennox as high as most held the other Brit heavyweights.

It is freaky how time passes. Great days of Lewis, Holyfield are as far back from now… as Ali, Foreman & Frazier were, when I was a teenage boxing enthusiast grabbing those Boxers magazines & VHS tapes.

19 years, bloody hell. Remember staying up to watch it. Crazy that.

Agreed we are all getting older, but I thought it was really great last night to see how well Lennox is doing.

He's 58, an all time great, wealthy, is as articulate as ever - so clearly no long term boxing related issues and can talk about a fight without resorting to "back in my day" type chat. He also appears to be very happily married with a lovely family.

Carl Frampton was a good little prospect last I checked, now he's retired after a successful career

George Groves had a 10 year pro career and been retired for 4 years now. I feel like I just watched his Charles Adamu fight last week and I'm expecting a great career where he hopefully wins a world title.

Same here - particularly when you think that the 40's were war years!

Same with football - 1996 and "30 years of hurt" at the time was years ago but that record is now 28 years old and nearly the same time again but seems like just a few years ago.

If something happened before we were born, we tend to think of it as happening much loner ago than it actually was.
