I've just been thinking, has there ever been a luckier boxer than Tyson? According to this forum Wlad, in Germany, undefeated in eleven years, just decided not to try hit him. Then undefeated long time world champion and Olympic medallist Wilder who everyone knew Tyson would be terrified to trade with turned out to be useless.... now Whyte, who has done twelve rounds regularly, after the best camp of his life, was gassed after four...
It might just be me, but do you see a common denominator?

He was a massive underdog in the Wlad and Wilder fights before they decided not to try.

Mickey,you know bookies get it wrong,take Paul Butler on Friday night,he was a big underdog and won fairly easily

Vlad was 39. Wilder is fairly shit but can bang. And whyte is fairly shit but can rumble a bit. The common denominator is Fury wanted to fight them (wonder why).

If Usyk beats AJ, and Fury dont want it, then you can see a difference in the equation cant you... Fury dont want it.

Fury is probably the best heavyweight of the post klit era. But you cant beat wilder a few times, bang out whyte and call yourself the king.

Unfortunately Fury is also the beneficiary of fighting in a really sh!t era of heavyweight boxing. This current era is reputationally damaging.

He's brilliant. No other heavyweight that size has had anywhere near the natural talent he has.

If people can't see that or don't want to admit it then it's their loss. They'll soon be complaining about the lack of talent once he's gone.

If he had a more chiselled physique then he'd probably get more respect from some who can't deal with the fact a guy with love handles is levels above the competition.

I give Fury all the respect he deserves. I’ve said for a long time that he’s the number 1 heavyweight. Last night did nothing for me though as I have never rated Whyte and have just seen him as a plodder with a hook. Fury dominated him like the man of the division should. I hope he don’t retire and goes on to beat the winner of AJ/Usyk then there will be no one who can doubt him

i would say fury was lucky in mcdermott 1 fight as someone has mentioned earlier i also thought he was lucky ref didn't wave it off after wilder floored him in the 12th i'm sure other refs would of waved it off straight away other than that he's beaten the best of a bad bunch i do think the legacy fights are aj and usyk which he should do but if he retires fair play to him he was brilliant last night and whyte was shit

But id he was lucky to get away with any of them, let alone all of them... its interesting, i wonder how people would see furys legacy if he had lost those 3.... crazy to think, exact same figher, considered best of an era by most, yet in a completly reasonable world with different officials he would have 3 losses and considered "decent"....

(not saying they should of gone against fury, but that cut gets stopped 9/10 times. And id say that wilder knock down gets waved 7/10 times, and id say 75% of people agree mcdermontt won the fist fight, So yea lucky to get away with all three)

Fury needs to beat either Usyk or Joshua to cement himself as number one for me. Not saying he wouldn’t beat them both, but he needs to prove it. They’re the top 3 in the division by an absolute mile, the rest are pretty crap.

lucks always being a part of boxing... for example, if buster duglas didnt get a 13 second count he would of never beat mike tyson.... Its fine, there is a bit of luck in everything. just saying fury has got a good amount of it. and to be fair capitalised when he did.

Poor Mickey. If Fury retires without fighting the winner of Usyk/Joshua, he's going to have to spend the rest of his life logging into Boxrec and defending his hero.
