Jones would outbox Johnson handily. His speed and reflexes were on the other level. Jack would fail to catch and to hold the elusive Roy.

Johnson would go to the center of the ring and wait for Jones to come to him. Johnson had such great reflexes and timing that once Jones began to strike Johnson would tie him up and beat him on the inside. Johnson had that mentality that he could do that all night long if he had to, which only frustrated his opponents and made them take more risks than they normally would--- I can see him hurting Roy from time to time, but with Roy doing more clowning and showboating than actual fighting after a while because he would realize that Johnson was not going to deviate from his game plan.

All in all it would be a very boring contest to watch but interesting for us die hard tactician fans of boxing, and would most likely be declared a draw or a split decision either way because the rounds would be so close for the most part no one would be able to determine who really had the upper hand.

Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all :TU:

would 12 rounds be enough for jack's devastating hugs to take effect?

Jones would have never have taken this fight.

15 Rounds is better and Jack Johnson went to that distance at 15 or beyond multiple times. Roy Jones Jr. is capable of boxing 15 rounds should it extend back from 12 to 15.

Anyways, Johnson would use his size and speed to out-hustle and out-punch Jones with jabs, uppercuts, counters and combinations to take a decision.

depends whether he was looking for a cuddle or not. on a cold, lonely night huggy jack was probably just who he'd be looking for

is a 12 rounder roy would outspeed jack, edge most of the rounds, avoid his hugs well enough, and take a decision before he could get worn down by jack's constant loving

Now I know why you love heavyweight boxing in the last 15 years or so. There is never any clinching in recent times.

So why is bad for Johnson to clinch but you don't care if all the big guys have been doing it the last several years? :yay:

You are right, John Ruiz deserves the golden medal of shame, while old Jack captures only the silver one.

bad? why are you calling it bad?

jack's man love is glorious! im flabbergasted why you dont have more love for the hugging that those more recent guys do. they were simply following the lead of the goat huggy heavy, giant jack.

Johnson actually had skill. Of course since he fought before your time, you don't know that. He was an accurate puncher, had a great jab. (By that. I mean he really had a great jab. Unlike tall fighters who automatically get credited with a good jab.) He was great at parrying punches, which you probably never heard of.
