Did Rodrigo Valdes do enough to merit IBHOF induction ?

I believe an argument can be made that the quality of fighters he defeated- apart from Briscoe- isn't that impressive. Where does the board stand on Valdes' resume and the IBHOF ?

I strongly agreed. When the IBHOF decide to induct Valdes, he would be inducted under the old-timer category because of the hall of fame system rules since 2015 that fighters who retired before 1989 would be eligible to be inducted under the old-time category. Valdez last fought and retired in 1980, so he is eligible. He did enough to earn his merit for his IBHOF induction even though he didn't have strong enough opponents like his rival Carlos Monzon fought outside of their common rival and opponent "Bad" Bennie Briscoe.

What was Valdes' best win outside of the Briscoe fights ?

He must have done something right seeing as how Monzon ducked him for three years.

Defeating a man who you previously ducked would be a good thread.

Guess I'm not quite as high on him as I used to be. At first glance, you see the two thought fights he gave Monzon and the wins over Brisco. However, after that there is a drop off. His next biggest win would probably be over Gratien Tonna.

Should he get in? Depends a lot on who is up against.
