Ben Whittaker

There’s a fair bit of talk that it’s going to be announced soon that Ben’s signing with Boxxer and Sky.
I’m a little surprised he’s waited as long as he has to turn pro given you can lose a bit of the momentum he had after the games.
I think it’s probably the right move for him. They can put him on in Birmingham and have the last 2 prizefighter winners on the show to help the tickets and I think we can all agree that Sky is the strongest TV platform for promotion.
I’m a little surprised Queensbury didn’t go hard for him because they have a few fighters in and around the midlands but don’t have a big name. Whittaker isn’t there yet but within 2 years could be headlining if he’s as good as he thinks.
It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, happens to Probellum and their fighters. They’ve signed more male Olympians than both Boxxer and Matchroom (McGrail and the 2 McCormacks) so I could imagine Matchroom going after them hard if they become available.
