It’s all good comparing pro careers, it’s not like Bivol was a novice when he turned pro.

In most cases now, the ones with really good AM backgrounds, they then pro and don’t waste time.

Bivol, Usyk, Loma, Rigo, Joyce and there’s more that are doing the same now.

It’s more quality over quantity.

On paper Bivol is severely outmatched against Canelo, although stylistically he seems like a one of the two biggest challenges (along with Beterbiev) for the Redhead, if not to look above the LHW limit. Bivol can box and stick to his gameplan, he's agile and technically sound.

The thing is, Bivol isn't likely to outbox Canelo wide enough to secure a decision win with the history of all close bouts featuring the Redhead going in his favor. Canelo's punch resistance is also freakish, while the Bivol's one is untested, so it's very hard to pick Dmitry to win. I think, the fight will be close and Canelo will catch Bivol later on.

Anyway, I'm still rooting for Dima!

It's clear that Canelo has faced better opposition, accomplished more, has looked more impressive and has also been far busier than Dmitry Bivol within the last three years.

My thoughts are, what is the point of this thread. We all have boxrec accounts and can compare the resumes of the respective fighters using the main Boxrec feature. If there was an opinion you wanted to express, I think you should have the courage to express it in the first instance.

I listed facts.

I tried to present them in an objective manner.

Some of these facts I feel are very surprising - at the very least, they contradict some of the claims made by other forum members.

My interpretation of them, is that Bivol has received an awful lot of praise for doing considerably less than Canelo has. He's a borderline hype-job.

I'm not saying he doesn't have talent though, but perhaps what he's done inside the ring doesn't warrant the plaudits he's received.

If could be a very one-sided fight that resembles Canelo's bout against Callum Smith (another fighter that was highly-praised, but actually achieved very little in comparison to the Mexican).

I have already supplied my prediction in a different thread.

But the high-level executive summary is that it’s going to be a dull fight.

Canelo is going to have to chase Bivol around the ring and wear him down.

Bivol will enjoy some success during the first few rounds.

Canelo will take ownership of the winning moment from the fourth or fifth round, after adapting to Dmitry’s awkward style.

Bivol will inevitably resort to survival mode during the championship rounds when a combination of fatigue and Canelo's effective work starts taking its toll.

I expect the second half of the bout to become very one-sided, but the final scorecard totals will probably be closer than the overall narrative of the fight, primarily due to the Russian's early lead.

The point is bivols resume dwarfs canelos. Bivol would have actually beat ggg twice and trout and lara and mayweather.

Bivol resume is solid. Schooling Smith and Pascal is good enough for me. He is young, at his very prime, lot of amateur pedigree, very skilled, natural light heavyweight, undefeated, champion. Only biggest canelo haters will have problem with this fight. this is boxing at his best

This should be a lesson to EO that fights aren’t won on paper. It won’t be obviously, but at least he still has the mundanity of his ‘size matters’ diatribe
