Anyone got a download of this available?

Heavyhitters has claimed elsewhere it was a bad stoppage by the referee thats not how I remember it. Dont think there was any dispute at the time. Mind you my memories of 88 are not the best!!

Yes, please! Someone find the thread.... but not only show us the final overhand right from Lewis, but also what happens in the first round, as well as the confusion shortly after the ref stops the fight.

As I remember it it was a perfectly good stoppage. And didnt Bowe get more than 1 count?

It was a bit of a dodgy stoppage. But Bowe just didn't seem to be there mentally and would surely have shipped more of Lennox's big rights and probably been knocked out. The American's mindset was so bad he barely complained at the stoppage; just shrugged his shoulders and trudged back to his corner.
It took "Big Daddy" years to shake off the 'flake' image his performance generated.

It was a bit of a quick stopage as I remember, but that's the amateurs for you....Bowe was sort of leaning back over the top rope, with Lewis teeing off - ref did seem to jump in a bit quick though.

Saying that, it was Bowe who ducked Lewis in the pros - more his manager's decision than his I suspect.

Watch it again, Turkey!

No there was no other "count" in the fight. Bowe didn't react to the referee decision right away because he was still unclear as to what had just happened. The referee earlier on was warning Lewis or Bowe or both for leaning in with their heads or something.... Nobody could understand what that "quack of a referee" was trying to say.....

Speaking of counts... why didn't the referee just give Bowe a standing eight count, if he really thought he was hurt? Why would you just stop a fight after one of the fighters land one decent punch? The reason is he was sent in there to DQ Bowe, and that was his only mission....

By the way, Bowe would have probably KO'ed Lewis later in the fight, not the other way around by far!!!
