Probably something in that.

He's as thick as mince.

But despite not being able to articulate his point very well, there is indeed a point he is trying to make.

Any Sportsman, regardless of race, will not live up to their true potential with a crap diet.

Whether that's beans on toast, or living off curries all week, is basically cutting corners and giving yourself more chance of failure.

That said, there are always genetic freaks out there whom eat crap, smoke and drink - yet still are ripped with a 6-pack (like myself :OhYes: )

I doubt Tyson Fury or Billy Joe Saunders grew up eating healthily.

What's wrong with curries anyway? All meat, veg and rice and chapatis which aren't that bad for you. Lot of lentils in Indian food that's good for you.

I think it's more the savouries and sweets you get in Indian houses that's the issues. My pal is Indian, if i go round his place, his missus is straight in the room with a massive tray of samosa's, bhajis and all sorts of other fried and savoury treats. Every time they have a cuppa it's always accompanied by some snack or sweet. I think that's what does the damage more than the main Indian diet.

Amir has done the right thing there. He'll inspire more people by giving them a bollocking than anybody will by crying and blaming others.

The sauces in the curries can be really rich in calories. You couple that with some pilau and maybe a naan/poppadoms and you can easily be through a couple of thousand calories.

I guess all curries are different though and if you wanted healthy curries then you can get them.

SC Asians definitely have a "feeding culture".
They prize tubby babies, praise healthy appetites and parties with full doggy-bags to take home. It's not really the food itself, it's the culture of enabling fatness that is the problem.
If it IS a problem ?

Amir thinks it is, I kinda agree from the Indian mothers and grannies I know.

I would have thought Fury and Saunders had a better diet than most. A traveller woman will mainly have a pan of stew on the go at most times. Always meat, vegetables and gravy. Can all the street kids say that?

Khan should ask Asian lads about their experiences in professional football to see if its about diet and excuses. I like Amir but he's flat out wrong on this.

I am 100% ignorant re: football. I've never played or watched it. Can you expand on what you mean? I always though that Asians didn't really bother playing football?

This is just one story from a lad who made it to the pro game, loads more who don't have
the same platform.

Amir Khan clear not thinking about why South Asian lads can be the best cricketers in the world, or the best squash players.

For a good while I went to school in an Asian area, whites were the minority, we gave them grief and they gave us grief but it was never deep seated racism. I don't think they hated us and we didn't hate them but we did call them P*kis (I don't use that word now) and they called us gora. I'd be surprised if any of them felt offence but they all will have been called it. I think the people who get het up about this are whites who have either never lived in these areas or, in cases like the footballer you linked to, the newspaper have put their slant on it. He said he was called it and it didn't bother him.

I’m in that world right now. Asian lads appear to be slow to fill out, so can’t compete for strength. Same with boxing. They are whippets at a young age, but then get found out strength wise. Looking at many of my 40+ Asian mates, I can’t say many of them, if any, could run 2k straight.

Exactly. There's no agenda. Khan showed it can be done but, and as I said I am not a football expert, you don't get many Asian lads who are built like those West Africans and White Europeans who, as I understand it, dominate football at the highest level.

But Asians are successful in boxing...in pro boxing there are so many world champions from Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Kazakhstan, etc. And in amateur boxing plenty of Olympic medalists from these countries plus Uzbekistan, North Korea, India, etc.

Go and look at some of the Pakistan and Indian cricketers and tell me them aren't physical units.

Amir gives an interview that isn’t strictly PC, so what it’s just his opinion, doesn’t mean he is right.
I quite like it when people put there foot in their mouth.
There is some truth in every lazy stereotype, but always many more exceptions to the rules of them. He hasn’t said anything with malice, people just like to be offended and offended on others behalf.
The answer I guess is a lot more complicated and has many factors, diet, parental prioritisation of education, culture, genetics, lack of role models, possibly racism to a degree but more so a unnecessary fear of racism, just to think of some.

Different asians, mate. Lads from Korea have generically more in common with Russians then they would with Indians or Sri Lankans I would say, for example.

Curry is my favourite meal but when I was boxing it was a treat. Weight wise you can't eat curry on a daily basis
