Does anyone remember this fight ? Is it worth trying to get ?

Not so much a good fight but a vintage Eubank performance, he boxed Wharton's ears off.

Henry is a hard bloke, teak tough. I like him. Stu's summed the fight up right, though.

His fight against Wharton was possibley Eubanks finest post Watson winning performance.

Having said that stylewise Wharton was made to order for Eubank.

I heard Wharton say in an interview that he could never have beaten Eubank, Eubanks style was all wrong for Wharton.

In all honesty Wharton was tailor made for anyone who could take a shot and box a bit.

The wonderfully named Slugger O Toole ( aka Fidel Castro Smith - gosta love Brendan Ingle ) handed Wharton a beating for the whole fight and then lost the decision.

I was so disgusted ( I was at the fight ) I could not watch boxing for months as I was 100% convinced the fix was in.

Watching the fight again recently, I still think it was one of the worst decisions ever

A better fight to watch was Wharton's challenge against Benn, this was Benn boxing better than i'd seen before, not just slamming into a guy , he really put some thought into this one

Yep the Slugger O'Toole/Castro Smith decision was a shocker.

But Wharton was a decent fighter and had a great left hook, if I recall that was his weapon of choice.

Eubank's performance in that fight was arguably his best boxing performance.

Obviously the BENN-WATSON-ROCHIAGNA fights all resonate more because of their significance and drama. But as an example of Eubank's potential and ability - the Wharton fight is his definitive performance.

He was excellent that night.

I went ahead and am gonna get the fight. It seems most collectors don't have this one. maybe a little hard to find ? I found a copy though.

Didn't Whartons eye swell bad?

Of the 3 title challenges that Wharton had he said of Nigel Benn that he basically froze and had lots left but for some reason didn't go all out.

He said could never have beaten Eubank and he said that the Robin Reid match came too late in his career.

I didn't think the fight with Smith wasn't as bad as many make out. It was close but I feel Wharton took many of Smiths shots on the gloves.

I wonder what the outcome would have been if the muted Henry Wharton V Crawford Ashley fight had of taken place?

Exactly. And Eubank had both of those qualities and then some. I had 50 quid on Wharton, blinded by my desire to see Eubank get his just desserts. Talk about a bloke who, often, only did just enough.

I agree that was a bad decision.

I haven't actually seen Eubank-Wharton but am i the only person who actually enjoyed Robin Reid-Henry Wharton I hear Henry spends a bit of time on the golf course these days, good luck to him

Last time I saw Henry at a show he was in the corner with his cousins the Robshaw brothers.

And yes it was a vintage Eubank that night in Manchester, even the ring entrance was a classic when he was lifted up on a crane towering over ten thousand Wharton fans...

I think at Light Heavyweight, Whartons' power wouldn't have been so effective and Ashley would have outclassed him. I feel Wharton new this also and bottled it.

Reggie Robshaw? I remember he lost to Birmingham's Steve Brumant and never fought since. Tall and upright but not particuarly very good, didn't realise Henry had anything to do with them.

Yes mate he took out a trainers or seconds license so he could work the corner along with the guy that helped train him. Cant remember his name
