i think inoue's the best p4p until we get to shak at 130, but he's already small at 118 and i think could overstretch himself moving beyond that if he faces a top guy there. not saying he couldnt win those fights but it wouldnt surprise me if he lost

from 118 down, no one beats him at the moment

It's like Tank Davis, at LW he is average powered and a bit short. Below that he is a beast.

There’s not much weight between bantam and feather so it’ll be interesting if he decides to be truly great by moving through the divisions or remain great at 122lbs.

I don’t see a bantam or super fly capable of doing it. He’s got some good fights left at 118 too.

I feel like he’s stuck momentarily. DAZN has MJ and PBC/showtime has Fulton. ESPN can’t get him any crowns at 122 unless they start openly endorsing the IBO…

If he makes it all the way up to super featherweight then maybe Shakur Stevenson?

Lightweight is way too far for him given his size when you look at the quality there at the moment.

No man weighing up to 118 is beating Inoue.

I'd take Fulton Jr to beat him if he takes a step up to 122, but I can't see Inoue going up as he wants all the belts at 118, but he's not a big 118lber as it is, so moving up further is potentially risky.

Naoya Inoue is 29 years of age, which is usually in the realms of being on the wrong side of his physical prime, in the context of diminutive fighters competing at 118lbs and below.

For the record, I’m not suggesting that the ‘Monster’ is shot, because he obviously isn’t, but his time at the top is definitely running out.

I just don’t think he’ll be regarded as the sports’ most dominant force in 18 months’ time.

The first bout between Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire clearly proves the fact the Japanese fighter is a mere mortal that is capable of losing. For sure, he won that fight, but he also looked human.

Also, there’s a strong likelihood that Naoya Inoue is capable of achieving success at 122lbs, but I feel that featherweight might be a bridge too far for him.

He’s probably capable of beating the very best at 126lbs, but he won’t be head-and-shoulders above his peers competing in the same division. In fact, he’ll be regarded as being very beatable at that weight.

And finally, boxing is known as the “theatre of the unexpected” for a reason, because upsets happen, which means that none of us should consider any fighter as being invincible.

Inoue, Lomachenko, Usyk, Beterbiev, Bivol, GGG etc are all great champions.

It does look as if we're now in a new era in boxing.

I’m not a hater. But it’s obvious you can’t seriously claim that boxing is about to commence a new era if the vast majority of the names you’ve listed are already past-their-primes.

Yes, of course.

All the names you’ve listed are fantastic fighters that should inspire future generations of boxers.

But all those names are in their thirties (barring GGG who is forty and Inoue, who is on the cusp of turning 30 years of age).

The likes of Lomachenko, Usyk, Beterbiev and GGG either won’t be competing in three years’ time or they’ll be relegated to gatekeeper status.

It might be for some of the Eastern European boxers who spend most of their 20s fighting in the amateurs.

In fact a lot of boxers seem to either start boxing or turn pro much later than they used to eg Joshua and Whyte.

Maybe age matters less than the miles on the clock?

One hard fight can take off years and years.

Look at what happened to Derevychenko after his war with GGG.
