One of the greatest , (and most articulate)mixed martial artists to ever fight, UFC champ in two weight classes Randy Couture, hated by Dana White because he wouldn't sign the rights to his own name to the UFC, and injunctions him into not being able to fight Fedor to see who the real heavyweight champ at that time was

I don’t follow UFC, but I saw that Paddy the baddy post his pay for his last fight. It was something ridiculous like £12000. No wonder they all leg it for boxing.

It’s a different business model to boxing. People tend to buy tickets to the UFC without really knowing who’s fighting a lot of times. It’s like the WWE. It’s such a big brand that people just go for it. Whilst people will only watch and pay for boxing if it’s a fight or fighter that they want to see.

I’d be surprised if Pimblett got more elsewhere than he’s been paid since joining the UFC, he’s renegotiated his contract, he’s also had $100k in bonuses from his 2 UFC fights on top of his contracted fight purse and his profile has gone through the roof because of who he is, and most importantly, the exposure the UFC has given him.

who was it, onetimeonly maybe, who used to always go on about all sorts of ufc fighters making huge paydays, but that most of it was undeclared and not the 'official' purse. dunno how true that is

It was publicised by Dana but you won’t find many actual fighters happy about UFC pay.

I see. I saw an interview where he claims he was better paid at cage warriors, but as you said, the benefits with UFC are outside the octogon.

A Welsh fella Brett Johns won 5 out of 7 in UFC, but turned down the new contract as he was offered more with Bellator

I think that’s the way to do it .. use UFC to create your brand and fan base .. then go make your real money elsewhere …

Realistically McGregor got to the point where the UFC needed him much more than he needed the UFC

Yeah - there have been a handful of fighters that become so big that the UFC do all they can to keep them as the next level of star fighter isn’t even close. McGregor, Rousey and Lesnar spring to mind although McGregor did double the number of buys Lesnar or Rousey tended to do.

But he gets exposer for being a Mouthy Scouser who looks like Owen Hart a bit rather than being a good fighter, dontngt me wrong he's not bad but the gimmicks ar getting a bit old

McGregor drunk at the Khabib conference, my teeth curled with cringe
