Err, not very. Southern area level I guess. He got a gift against the ageing Rob Norton to be British Championship himself. Norton was decent enough and probably should have been both these guys and stayed champ.

Among the worst in the heavies, but maybe Holden would have outlasted James Oyebola. James seemed to have real stamina issues.

Joe joyce is the worst brittish champ.... Not that he is a bad boxer, just that he won it, held onto it for 2 years without defending it, then vacated it.... absolute waste of one of the best belts in boxing for making rare 50-50s befor world champ levle.

Good shout although I’m more inclined to blame the board for that. Even if he no plans to defend it there’s always a chance someone will ask him and pay him to vacate.
If shouldn’t have gone aslong as it did though. If there’s no plans to defend it then the board should strip him after 6/9 months. British boxing is always in a better position when the belts are active.

Scott Gammer is the first person that comes to mind on this. Won the title against Krence, had a soft defence against Micky Steeds and then lost to Danny Williams.

It will have to be a cruiser or heavy really, as they are the least skilled and more poorly conditioned.

Saunders had some good wins on his record. Doesn't deserve to be mentioned in this thread

Leon Williams is the worst I’ve seen.
Got beat widely by Rob Norton but was given the decision in one of the worst robberies I’ve ever seen.
However no one cared because Norton was awful to watch & most people were happy he was out of the picture.
Williams then got beat by McPhilbin who’s probably also up there as one of the worst British champs.

Leicester's Tim Wood won the British light-heavyweight title with a hotly disputed decision over Phil Martin of Moss Side. Wood was losing all the way until he found a decent finish in the days of 15-rounders but he still looked desperately lucky to get the nod on a Jack Solomons dinner show at Grosvenor House. Wood endured a miserable run as champion as he struggled to outscore Londoner Danny Fontillio in a 10-rounder and lost on cuts to Nottingham's Harry White in another non-title encounter. Then came a mandated defence against Bunny Johnson, who had dropped down from heavyweight. Wood was wiped out in the first round and that was that for his time in the spotlight. I was later told that Tim could be found drinking in pubs at 9am in Leicester and he died of a heart attack at 59.

Yes definitely tbh.
But my bad; I read as worst ever champion as worst British world champion cos I’m a spastic.
Arthur is definitely no where near the worst British champion; but world champion his name gets rolled out.
Apologies.
