Does he give a date ?
like in the 1910's or around then.
early on they used harsh Arc lights to light up the arena.
then for filming Thomas Edison's incandesent lamps were used that were about as big as a 5 gallon bucket
2 feet apart in a line of seven suspended about 12 above the ring.
But if a fighter had been killed during the filming of a bout,I think we would have heard of it.

I wonder if it was this mysterious event at a boxing arena in Canada in 1913, that Holyfield may have been referring to ?
so whaddya think anyway ?
the ten seconds of light and mysterious beam that landed on Luther McCarty in the ring.
do you have the exact quote and its contents to it ?
anyway, sounds like something Evander Holyfield would remember hearing.

If this is in reference to the Fan Man incident, I think Robsteth may have misremembered Holyfield's quote. He was worried because he was remembering Curtis Mayfield, the singer, who was left paralyzed after the lights fell on him during a 1990 concert. This would have been fresh in the memory in 1993.
