Bigger fight in 2022 - Eubank Jr vs Been or Khan vs Brook.

Simple question based on Hearn's assumption today that Eubank Jnr vs Brook is the biggest fight in the UK - possibly Ever!!!!! And that he was so bold in saying that Brook vs Khan was never a DAZN PPV fight.

For me - even though over the hill - Brook vs Khan in 2022 was the bigger fight by far. Khan is one of the biggest names in British boxing history (yes Eubank and Benn's dads were also big) and he was one of the combatants - not a relative of the fighters. There was still more intrigue and I think a harder fight to call than this one.

Benn especially would pass the street and no one would know him.

Khan vs. Brook is what fans wanted for a long time.. similar weights and all that.. regardless of how long it took to make.

No one really asked for Eubank-Benn - not saying it's not a big fight, but they're 2 weight divisions difference and neither have really accomplished anything.

I think this one is 'bigger' in the mainstream and will quickly start ramping up in the online/youtube stakes.

Both unnecessary to boxing fans but I also wouldnt miss either so....

Benn v Eubank for sure, just on their surnames.

Nevertheless styles make fights, both aggressive, proper warrior spirits and there to hit, in fairness regardless of names the fight holds up by itself.

I'm sure it will be a really good fight.

But with the surnames it will be huge.

And neither are past their peak.

but the brook khan fight was 5 years i would say past its sell by date , lets face it brook retired after his fight, if benn wins he will be fighting for world titles for next couple of years at least

Khan Brook by a mile especially with the Sky Sports backing.

Everyone was talking about it. Not heard a single mention of Benn Eubank in the group chat or at work this week.

These are people that talk about Whyte & Chisora.

Its got to be Eubank vs Benn. because of there dads and because they are both prime and this fight effects there futures rather than a full cash out.

But not by much. Ed is delusional and was on IFLtv claiming that if this was on sky it would break there PPV record.... so what 1.5 million + buys? Well if thats the case i hope he is paying them 15 million+ each...
But i guess there was talk of fury v whyte doing 2 million hahaha, and we never even got to see.

Hearn also claimed this could sell out 3 or 4 wembelys... yet he has 40 quid ticks at the O2...

Similar but for different reason.
Khan & Brook were legitimate world class fighters .. but both well past their sell by dates, but hyped to make it still be sellable.

Benn & Eubank have been marketed off the back of their fathers, and proved good enough to operate at a level that's kept them relevant.
This matchup for them is exactly what promoters signed both guys for originally.

Expect to see their dads wheeled out in the next few weeks to push the PPV .. their absence from this so far speaks volumes how the hype is gonna go.

I dont think most of my friends know that Nigel Benns son boxes. They would all know who Amir Khan was.

Khan / Brook for me...

People forget how massive that fight was going into it, people were talking about having 2 fights, or even a 3=fight series depending on how they played out...
But because of how one sided the bout was, it takes the shine off it.

Brook and Khan were long past prime and they d*cked everyone around for years with this fight which ened up as a cash out between two over paid princesses.
I didn't pay for it, I would have if it was 5 years ago.
At least Benn is prime, and Eubank slightly off the boil making the fight closer. So it's barely better, but still just a domestic non title clash. :maybe:

Eubank v Benn has the feel of a manufactured social media fight - different weight classes, no genuine boxing reason to meet and it's only happening as they have famous fathers and therefore a selling point.

There's going to be a lot of hype but it's a poor fight for Benn, who had seemed on an upward trajectory. He's being milked here.

Brook v Khan was a genuine fight, one I was happy to PPV but not Benn v Eubank and I have just cancelled DAZN.

Both fights flawed. I remember alot of talk ahead of Khan vs Brook was that there was going to be some kind of fix/ anti climax to leave the crowd feeling bitter and I'd agree Eubank vs Benn should be as flawed as Khan vs Canelo or Brook vs Golovkin....its a forced rivallary and not genuine like Brook vs Khan.

The one sided nature of Brook vs Khan was surprising but no one didnt appreciate the effort made.

I could be wrong but I don't recall khan vs Brook making it onto mainstream news, and I doubt it had the casual following that these two fighting will have

Plus, that fight was far, far too late, we all wanted to see that years ago, when it finally did roll round we watched it cos we hoped it would be better than what it was, and off the back of their names, but it was jank wasn't it really :maybe:

This one could turn out to be the same

Yeah Khan was on bbc quite a bit before the Brook fight.

Perhaps not right to put this on a boxing forum as boxing fans felt it was a bit anti climatic the Brook vs Khan hapoened 5 years too late.

Boxing fans probably see Benn vs Eubank 2 as bigger than Bruno vs Lewis whereas actually despite the former being on terrestrial tv the build up to the latter was bigger

Khan vs Brook several years too late so lost its appeal somewhat

Both had suffered crushing defeats

Benn vs Eubank still has the “how good is he” aspect but neither of them are as good as Khan / Brook were.

Depends what you prefer in a fight I guess

Benn vs Eubank could descend into a total mismatch given the size difference

To me, Brook vs Khan. Benn vs Eubank is only happening because of their surnames.

This.

I was still psyched Khan and Brook, even if it was years past when it was relevant.

Eubank and Benn is only relevant due to who their fathers were. Or to put it another way, it isn't relevant.

I was genuinely nervous before round 1 in that Brook/Khan fight. Descended into a mismatch but I thinks it deffo bigger.

I put money on Amir to stop Brook in 1!
