Can anyone believe this. Surely it's Glen Johnson.

I will have to wait to see the Garray fight, but I have asked a friend who saw the German show (with the edited rounds) was it shaping to be a carbon copy of their first fight. He said yes, oh well - looks like Garray was shafted again.

I know some people who geniunally thought Edrei won the first encounter, its all about styles. Personally, I thought Garray won it by a street - if the crowds reaction to this fight is anything to go by, it looks like he was shafted in this fight also.

Its all about opinion when it comes to scoring though.

As for your question, of course Glencoffe should be number 1, with Tarver at 2. Edrei at 3.

It´s of course not Johnson. Look at his record. he just beat an over-the-hill RJJ and Mr. Overestimated Tarver.

No if Ottke would have stepped up to light heavy he would be now even the #1. If Calzaghe had balls, he would be as well the #1. Johnson lost to Ottke and would be blown away by Calzaghe. Erdei would easily box Johnson and Tarver out. Are you sure they both would win vs Garay????? I would even rate Tiozzo and Branco higher. Light Heavy is very weak at the moment. RJJ and DM are done.

Johnson has "lost" to a lot of guys and this obviously affects his overall standing......

I dont have a problem with Erdei at number one really... I think Tiozzo and Erdei would both have a great chance of beating Johnson...

but surely Johnson is the man who beat the man.
and he beat both men.

thats good enough for number one spot for me by a country mile.

yeah but the man wasnt the man anymore more when he lost to Tarver and Johnson.... :TU:

plus Johnson had lost to so many other people...

sort of like Norton at heavyweight...... beat the man, but lost to people who werent in the same class as the man ;-)

this is what i always said about Johnson. he had problems with a Clinton Woods who is not the hero in this division. Johnson is surely happy to have another 2 paydays before he retires.......

i totally disagreee, no one was tipping Johnson against Jones, no one tipped jonhson against tarver he beat the former 1 and 2 in the slots the fact he vacated the belts to fight tarver is the only reaosn we are this discussion otherwsie he would be unified champ and the rest would be contenders.

still be boring if we agreed all the time hey.

you are right, dude.

the belts don´t play any role in my decision. If there would be a fight Erdei-Tiozzo, the winner would be the real #1 for me in this division. i don´t see a problem for both winning vs. Johnson and of course vs Tarver.

It will be interesting to see how Woods goes with Hoye... clearly Woods and Johnson arent that far apart class wise....

If Hoye does a real number on Woods for example then that would push him right up there...... and you could argue he is number 1........

Tiozzo, Erdei and Johnson i have really trouble spliting......

Tiozzo has beaten some good fighters in his career at light heavy and cruiser... he beat McCallum (decked him too), Lucas (decked him) Nate Miller at cruiser, branco... thats not a bad list....

none of them are sensational..... all are very good at everything yet excellent at nothing......

Personally i think Erdei could do super middle weight as could Johnson......

interesting division, lets hope we will get the fights.....

I wonder if Tiozzo v Erdei could be on the cards, pretty easy to put together i would have thought.....

I fancy both Erdei and Tiozzo would like to face Johnson

I think Oboh could beat Tiozzo. Remember an ancient Virgil Hill outclassed him at Cruiserweight a few years ago. Undoubtedly Tiozzo is in better shape, but cannot be a much better fight - he is getting on a bit.

....
Tiozzo and promoter Michel Acaries were jubilant afterwards. As for future bouts a unification bout against WBO ruler Zsolt Erdei seems like a natural but neither mr Acaries or Universum head Klaus Peter Kohl seemed overly enthusiastic at the idea and the reason is simple: Erdei is a big star in Hungary but just isn´t big enough in Germany to make megafights possible. A more likely road for Tiozzo is an all French showdown against Medhi Sahnoune.

i have gotta disagree completely.....he losts a SD to a pretty much prime Virgil Hill and then got caught cold in the rematch....

Oboh is probably the same age as Tiozzo

Sahnoune is a bit of a puncher, is only chance against Tizzo would be a punchers chance

Yes, but is a much fresher fighter.

As for the Hill fight, I haven't seen fight one - but lets not forget Fabrice was the hometown. The reports I read said Hill was a clear winner. Did he get caught cold vs Hill in the rematch, probably - but still Hill floored him 4 times in their two contests.

He eeked out a majority decision vs Branco a year ago (again he was the hometown fighter) and Branco is ancient also.

Records do not show everything. Johnson was ripped off in loads of those supposed losses on his ledger. He has also taken many fights at short notice. No way should Erdei be #1.

The fighter in the top 6 that wins next goes into first place. Tarver is only rated so low because of his loss to Johnson as soon as he wins he will get alot more points. (Because of the rule that you cant be rated above someone you just lost to)

There's no if's about it. Many of Johnson's losses should have been wins simple as that. Daniel judah even stated after being given a terrible draw agaisnt Johnson, that he thought Johnson should have won!

As for your ridiculous contention that Ottke would have been #1 IF he had moved up to LH, that is plainly bollocks. He was a non punching jabmeister at SM, at LH he would have got his bollocks knocked off, unless of course he fought at home where they would have just helped him off the canvas and docked a point from his opponent.

Boxrec Rankings suck. Garay beat Erdei twice and was ripped off twice. So whos Erdei beaten? Oh yea Gonzalez. Then again they have Jonny Nelson as no1 too :o

no, james, not this fornicating bullshit again. he won clearly with no bad taste vs Johnson. why should he lose vs Tarver? or Woods? etc.?

for you Johnson is the best LH. why didn´t Johnson easily knock Svenniebaby out?

Different weight division. Johnson is stronger at LH than he was at SM. In any case, I don't see Ottke doing well against Tarver, or a number of other LHW's. Tarver is 190+ lbs come fight night.

How can anyone else other than Johnson be Number One? Who has Edei beaten to be Number One? Two dodgy decision against the unknown Garay? Johnson beat Taver AND Roy Jones Jnr for fornicate sake and went to England twice to beat Clinton Woods!! Who cares about what he has done previously he is the man in form and beating the others so is No. 1 in my book...Paul Briggs has as much chance of being No. 1 if Erdei is...he has beaten Jorge Castro, Stipe Drews and Jesus Ruiz...no better or worse than Erdei's current form IMO.

And before anyone jumps on may back i am not having a go at Erdei who is a classy fighter but on current form Johnson is definately Number One...we have to go on who is doing what not "So and so would/could beat someone else if they fought etc etc"
