Frank Sanchez has resurrected old business for a new fight date.
Boxing Scene has confirmed that the unbeaten Cuban heavyweight will face Puerto Rico’s Carlos Negron as part of an already announced October 15 show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The rescheduled fight was confirmed by Joe Goossen, Sanchez’s trainer.
The Fox Sports Pay-Per-View card is headlined by another heavyweight fight, with former titlist Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) and Robert Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs) in a 12-round WBC semifinal eliminator.
The two were originally scheduled to meet on January 1 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Negron (25-3, 20 KOs) was forced to withdraw less than a week prior to the Fox Sports PPV after testing positive for Covid. Sanchez (20-0, 13 KOs) remained on the card, facing late replacement Christian Hammer who he outpointed over ten lopsided rounds.
Sanchez previously fought on the undercard of Wilder’s eleventh-round knockout loss to Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23KOs) in their epic trilogy clash last October 9 in Las Vegas. The 30-year-old Cuban export—who lives in Miami and trains in California—outpointed Efe Ajagba over ten rounds in their battle of unbeaten heavyweights.
Negron will end a year-plus long layoff, having been out of the ring since last September. The 2008 Olympian for Puerto Rico—who lives and trains in Miami and is a training stablemate of veteran contender Luis Ortiz—will enter the fight having won his last five starts including back-to-back early knockouts on Miami club shows.
Exact placement of the Sanchez-Negron bout is not yet confirmed but is expected to be part of the Fox Sports PPV portion of the show, as would have been the case for their planned January 1 clash. Sanchez is currently ranked number-four by the WBC, though former unified titlist Andy Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) is expected to surpass him in the next rankings update following his win over Ortiz in their September 4 WBC semifinal title eliminator in Los Angeles.

Poor matchmaking..
PBC have a lot of inactive boxers on their roster..
When they do announce fights, it's their upcomers/prospects against c-rated boxers..
Why not just match Sanchez with Wallin..

You handbag wielding heathen!!
I would not expect you to even understand the sweet science that Dr Sanchez administers.
Big Frank, the Cuban Flash, the Dirty Sanchez, call him what you want.
But make sure you call him skilled.
Its an absolute art form doing just enough to get a decision.

I was hoping they would find a better opponent for Sanchez, someone decent like Bakole or Wallin.
Negron has little chance of winning, he'll get peppered with punches and probably stopped late.

Fair enough
He just hasn't had someone push him enough, he boxed rings around Efe and will do the same to Negron. So yeah, another boring fight.
The guy is top ten level fighting top 50 guys..

Undercard Press Release
Two exciting high-stakes showdowns have been added to the jam-packed four-fight FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View event headlined by the return of former WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder as he takes top-rated Robert “The Nordic Nightmare” Helenius on Saturday, October 15 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

In the co-feature, former IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant faces two-time WBC Super Middleweight Champion Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell in a WBC Super Middleweight Title Eliminator between 168-pound rivals.
Tickets for the event, which is promoted by BombZquad Promotions and TGB Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased through seatgeek.com and barclayscenter.com. Tickets are also available for purchase in-person at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center.
An amateur standout from his native Cuba, Sánchez (20-0, 13 KOs) now trains in California with renowned trainer Joe Goossen. The 30-year-old has remained busy on his rise up the heavyweight rankings, scoring three victories in 2020 as he earned a unanimous decision over Joey Dawejko and stopped Brian Howard and Julian Fernandez. Sanchez caught boxing fan’s attention when he scored a career-best win in October 2021, dropping the previously unbeaten Efe Ajagba on his way to a unanimous decision victory. Sanchez kicked off the New Year with a 10-round decision triumph against Christian Hammer in his last fight.
The 2008 Puerto Rican Olympian Negron (25-3, 20 KOs) was scheduled to meet Sanchez on January 1 but had to withdraw from the fight after testing positive for COVID-19. Negron rides a five-fight winning streak into the match against Sanchez, including four wins by stoppage. The 34-year-old bounced back from defeats to Dominic Breazeale and Brian Howard to put together his win streak, which includes a March 2020 knockout over previously unbeaten Robert Alfonso. He scored an eight round unanimous decision over Scott Alexander in his last fight in May 2021. Negron has fought professionally since 2009 and now lives in Miami where he trains alongside Luis Ortiz.
The 29-year-old Russell (19-0, 12 KOs) originally met the former champion Rodriguez in August 2021, but an accidental clash of heads ended the fight as a no-contest before the first round was completed. The middle brother between WBC Featherweight Champion Gary Jr. and 2016 U.S. Olympian Gary Antuanne, Russell returned to the ring after the Rodriguez bout to earn a decision victory over Alexis Santiago in November 2021. Fighting out of Capitol Heights, Maryland, Russell also owns a decision victory over former world champion Juan Carlos Payano in December 2020.
Fighting out of Manati, Puerto Rico, Rodríguez (20-2, 13 KOs) has also added a victory since his first clash with Russell, knocking out Roberto Sanchez Cantu in March. The 30-year-old won the IBF Bantamweight World Title with a unanimous decision victory over Paul Butler in 2018 and successfully defended it against then-unbeaten Jason Moloney. Rodríguez went on to lose the title to unbeaten champion Naoya Inoue in their May 2019 title bout.

Man, PBC really likes putting these boring fights on national TV. Sanchez is TV poison.
Re: Frank Sanchez vs. Carlos Negron | FOX PPV - October 15, 2022
Undefeated Cuban heavyweight Frank Sanchez will be looking to make a big statement on October 15, with the idea of landing a world title fight in the near future.
Sanchez will collide with Carlos Negron on the undercard to Deontay Wilder's clash with Robert Helenius at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Sanchez (20-0, 13 KOs) will take part in his second fight with renowned trainer Joe Goossen. Last October, he scored a career-best win, dropping the previously unbeaten Efe Ajagba on his way to a unanimous decision victory. And back in January, he outboxed Christian Hammer over ten rounds to a dominant decision win.
The Cuban stylist is a heavy favorite, but he's not taking Negron lightly.
“Carlos Negron is a dangerous opponent, but I will be ready for whatever he brings. I intend to look for a knockout against Negron to demonstrate to boxing fans that I am both a boxer and a puncher,’’ said Sanchez.
“I feel I am the best heavyweight in the world and October 15 will bring me one step closer to the very important goal of becoming mandatory contender for a world title opportunity in 2023.’’
Negron (25-3, 20 KOs), a 2008 Puerto Rican Olympian, was initially scheduled to fight Sanchez back in January. He was forced to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19. Negron is riding a five-fight winning streak and currently trains alongside dangerous heavyweight Luis Ortiz.
“I know Frank, and I’ve never been a fighter to call any other fighters out or speak of any other boxer, so I don’t know why he asked to fight me,” said Negron.
“When my coach told me he wanted to fight me, I didn’t take it personally. I took it like a challenge. It gave me incredible motivation, and now I want to fight him. Let’s see what I can do against good competition. I have always done my best against better opponents. So come October 15, let’s see who’s the better man.”

His recent weights were 240 and 239 and 237..
Before that, he was usually below 230 pounds..
He was 200 pounds only in 2018..

Wonder if he's struggling to keep his weight down as he's got a little older. Maybe it's intentional which means it might negatively effect his speed if he keeps up with it. Or he thinks this is an easy fight he doesn't need to train hard for.

Sanchez is heavy, but it’s likely due to just not putting work in this camp due to it being a fornicating joke of a fight.
But, he has put on a very suspect amount of muscle in the last 4 years. And a lil bit of fat to go with it.

Frank Sanchez: I Feel Like a Mandatory Shot For The World Title is Coming
"I knew that the last three rounds I was going to step on the gas and knock him out late,” said Sanchez.
"We knew that Negron was going to be tough and he definitely gave it his all,” said Sanchez. “He was tough for nine rounds, but the knockout was inevitable. I have nothing but respect for Negrón, he fought a good fight. I just did what I had to do.”
"I'm a highly-rated fighter, so I feel like a mandatory shot for the world title is coming,” said Sanchez. “I'm just looking forward to fighting the best that the division has to offer. Hopefully the fans will get to see me in those big fights next year."
