Thoughts?

As much as I'd like him to win, I fear this may be another gallant British loss for Woods.

Havn't a clue what's going to happen with Haye. A very big gamble. I wouldn't begrudge him an Estonian jouneyman with a 12-200-1 record if only he took Haye 12 rounds.

P.S. Can't say much for their consistency, but the BBC have somehow wangled this one. Friday 11.30pm - 1am. Woods-Hoye "live." I think most of Haye's fight will be shown as well (probably be quite short anyway, one way or another.)

wow, the bbc do seem to be clinging onto boxing despite continually asserting they have dropped it? strange. Maybe haye is just seeing out his contract. Expect Ronald Mcdonald and Steve Bounce in a darkened cupboard again, looking ghoulish.

As for the fights, i will be looking forward to haye's most of all, this could be his ticket up the rankings. I expect him to stop the guy and well.

Woods will lose gallantly, that's for sure.

I think this is the very last fight on the BBC contract, though nobody seems to know for sure. I recally Steve Bunce telling me that March would see the end of the BBC's coverage, so this would stack up.

Somehow I don't hold great hopes for them going out with a bang.

Unfortunately I fear the bang will be on Woods' chin.

This fight is the biggest farce in this division. two top 20 fighters who fight for a title.

And how do you figure that Bubi? Apart from Gonzales, who has Erdei beaten? Prior to beating Dariusz' who had Gonzales beaten. You are always on about how Johnson beat a past it Jones and overrated Tarver, well the same can be said for Erdei's victories.

Johnson has beaten Tarver and Jones in succession, and whether you like it or not, he wasn't expected by most to do either.

its all very well in hindsight saying jones was shot and tarver aint that good, bollox they were the number ones and johnson beat em both.
even a past it jones would have given any of the others murder, and tarver would probably have ko'd em.
jonhson is the man at light heavy.

You can't logically claim that Erdei is the division number 1 against a man who has just beaten Roy Jones and Antonio Tarver. I think Erdei would give Johnson a decent fight (I think there styles nullify each other) and I think Tarver would walk through him. You rank on the basis of achievements not potential.

well due to the close nature of the first fight i guess tarver in a rematch.
i know you joke but if jc wants to step it up its a great fight.

theres plenty of fights out there for him.

a journeyman like Johnson who wasn´t at the top with 35 years showed that RJJ was done and a Tarver was totally overrated as #1 or #2 in the division. measuring with the same scales like you guys we must rate Tiozzo #1 or 2 because he beat DM who ruled this division for 9 years. but sorry, i forgot that DM is no US-Boy and a win over him isn´t that much worth than a win over Tarver or RJJ.

Johnson was easily outboxed by super middle Sven Ottke. Erdei has a familiar style but is able to hit harder. he would have no problems with Johnson who is over his prime with 35. i hope this fight will happen. You guys overrate that much you overrrated Williams when he beat an outwashed Tyson. most of you guys thought he could beat Vitali. hahaha.

he has developed late and if he boxed ottke like he did jones it would have been over in 5 rounds sorry but he has two names on his resume that far outweight anyone else and no beating a semi retired Darius doesnt make you number one.

sorry DM and RJJ ruled this division for a decade and you say RJJ was the man and DM semirated? that´s hatred or ignorance but not realistic. they are both done. and we all don´t know who was the better one in the last ten years.

I just risked again a look in Johnson record. the result is that my lunch wanted to come over me. he lost to all "good names" from 1997 to 2003 and you will tell me now he reincarnated to the nonplusultrasuperleightheavy. till 2004 his best win was against a young THomas Ulrich. I think i most go home and have a bttle of wine against this shock.

Would weight difference not be a problem with Johnson-Hopkins? Given Hopkins' age, could he really make it up to 175 with no fights in between?

Yes, agree jc would be a good fight, but I joke because I don't see it happening, for good reasons (38-0 of them.) Ok, maybe thats unfair, and I will gladly eat my hat (in fact I have three) to see that fight, but not before.

Erdei? Don't make me laugh. Garay got totally ripped off against him the 1st time and after last weekend from some accounts it was another screw job. Garays as basic as they come, Johnson would pound Erdei into submission.

Bubi why do you keep banging on about Johnson losing to Ottke, that was years ago and in a different weight division. Plenty of fighters in the course of history have improved late in their careers, and Johnson is no different.

You're determined to have Erdei #1, despite the fact he hasn't beaten anyone of note except Gonlalez, who also didn't beat anyone of note except for Dariusz, who you yourself just said was shot.

Johnson and tarver both beat all the top available contenders on the way to their title shots.
