No he didn't. He said "That's been proposed to me" (didn't say by who) and then "I can be like yeah let's get Smith let's make it happen but I know it's not going to happen".

He notes, probably accurately, that because Smith has won his final eliminator, it isn't happening.

That was turned into a clickbait headline on Twitter then about 'an offer to fight'.....

I took what Buatsi said as being that he’d take the fight but he didn’t think Smith would as he’s already mandatory. Inactivity has been a problem for Smith and I think this fight would sell out the Echo. We also know Beterbiev isn’t fighting Smith until next summer at the earliest so perhaps he’s more willing to take the fight than Buatsi thought.

I’d imagine it’s mainly because he’d have made big money for the WBSS and massive money for Canelo so his guarantee is probably big. If he fought someone average then he’s not a big enough name in his own right to sell out arenas and drive viewers so tends to mainly fight on AJ undercards.

Him and Buatsi would be a class fight. Hope it happens but I think it’s more likely we see Buatsi/Bivol in the UAE in the Spring.

Yeah agreed. He’s unified a division pretty much, made huge money and doesn’t seem the type of lad to waste it so what worlds does he have left to conquer. Maybe he’s got one more big fight left in him
